Doctor Who: The Memory Cheats

1966's The Celestial Toymaker seems to split fandom down the middle. Some think it's a brilliant first stab at surreality for Doctor Who; others find it to be a childish mess, notable for almost serving as a device to write out William Hartnell's Doctor. Where do Josh and Steven stand on this?

On this week's episode of The Memory Cheats, Josh and Steven appear to disagree on the merits of The Invasion, the official debut of UNIT into the world of Doctor Who. Unquestionable classic, or a shaky step forward into the Earthbound era to come?

At long last, the Wheel of Fortune selects a Colin Baker story for Josh and Steven to discuss in the form of Mindwarp, comprising of Parts 5-8 of 1986's The trial of a Time Lord. What did you hosts think of this controversial instalment? Listen and find out!

The final story of the Key To Time season, The Armageddon Factor has often been derided as a cheaply produced story that ended up being an unsatisfactory finale to Season 16. Or do Josh and Steven beg to differ on that viewpoint?

The Time Warrior is notable for many things - Sarah Jane Smith's first story, the debut of a new race called the Sontarans, and the beginning of the end for Jon Pertwee's Doctor. But which aspect(s) would be most fondly remembered (or remembered at all) by Josh and Steven?

It's back to the reconstructions for Josh and Steven as they do their best to sum up 1964's Marco Polo, the earliest story that's currently missing from the BBC Archives. The first pure historical story, Marco Polo is fondly remembered by those who saw it and worked on it, but does the memory cheat?

For the first time on The Memory Cheats, Josh and Steven randomly draw a Patrick Troughton story to review. Problem is, it's the Season 6 opener, "The Dominators", not one of the more celebrated stories in Doctor Who history. Would your intrepid hosts offer a different opinion…?

The Key to Time season holds special childhood memories for both Josh and Steven, but what did they think of one of the more maligned instalments in Season 16, The Power of Kroll? It was written by Robert Holmes and featured some classic Tom Baker moments, so it couldn't have been all bad, right?

Amazingly, the Wheel of Fortune selects another Season 26 story in Ghost Light, mere weeks after picking the last story ever, Survival, for Josh and Steven to discuss. What did the fellas think of this densely layered drama featuring alien husks and trouble after dusk?
