Christine is a nurse and didn't realize how serious the alcohol addiction was until they saw affects it was having on her stepson in the ER. She had a feeling of complete desperation and was powerless to change the situation and unable to control the outcome of seeking help for her son. She was there to support and be strong for her husband, Steve, in everyway possible. While she was being strong for everyone around her, it took a toll on her health and well being. When she started getting mad about the situation, she realized what was happening to her as a result and looked up to the only solution she knew, Jesus Christ. She then started taking better care of herself so she could be there for her loved ones. Her husband, Steve always put their marriage 1st through this difficult time and came to the conclusion together, that their child, as an adult, has to be accountable to his own actions and they can't fix it for him. The only things they could control was how they reacted to the situation and give it to The Lord, who can take care of it all.
Her message and advise to a parent in this type of situation is to find qualified people to talk to, humble yourself and admit that you don't know what to do and to listen to the voice of God for guidance. Don't stay isolated, like the devil wants you to do, and feel like nobody will understand.
