Have you ever noticed that some questions are really easy to answer for other people... but incredibly hard to answer for ourselves?

If a friend came to you in tears and said, "I really messed up. I made a terrible decision. Do you think God still loves me?" I have a feeling you wouldn't hesitate for a second.

You'd open your Bible. You'd remind her of God's grace. You'd tell her about the cross. You'd reassure her that nothing she has done is beyond the reach of Jesus.

But then something wild happens when the story is our own.

When it's our failure... our divorce... our addiction... our abortion... our affair... our angry words... our secret struggle... our years of running from God... suddenly all those promises we freely give to everyone else become harder to believe for ourselves.

We begin to wonder, I’m sure God forgives people like them... but surely He's different with me...
