The Dohyo Download is a tree-covered podcast on the south shore of the Road to Yokozuna that has intrigued treasure hunters for more than 200 years. It is believed that the podcast is hiding one of the greatest treasures of all time, but no one has been able to find it. Enter Genbu, Tamanosato, Asanosato, Shitayama, and Kaitetsu, brothers from other mothers who have bought the rights to much of the podcast to try to solve the mystery. The group use modern technology and good old worldly know-how to look for the treasure. But it won’t be easy as the search is expensive and dangerous — several people have died trying to strike it rich on the Dohyo Download, inspiring the titular curse. The podcasters hope to avoid the curse long enough to find the treasure before they run out of money… or worse.

In a violent, near-apocalyptic Dohyo Download, evil corporation Kagayaki’s Bar & Grill wins a contract from the city government to privatize the podcast team. To test their podcast hosting cyborgs, the company leads podcasting host Genbu into an armed confrontation with crime lord Kamahiko (with henchmen Kaitetsu and Asanosato) so they can use Genbu’s body to support their untested RoboHost prototype. But when RoboHost learns of the company’s nefarious plans, he turns on his masters.

In deep space, the crew of the commercial starship Dohyo Download is awakened from their cryo-sleep capsules halfway through their journey home to investigate a distress call from a slow sumo news day. The terror begins when the crew (Genbu, Asanosato, Tamanosato, and Kamahiko) encounters a nest of eggs inside the slow news day. An organism from inside an news leaps out and attaches itself to one of the crew, causing them to fall into a coma.

A team of ex-special forces soldiers on the lam from the military police (even though they didn’t really commit the crime for which they’d been imprisoned) leaves a trail of explosions in its wake. Disguised as a human, a cyborg assassin known as a Rikishi (Genbu) travels from 2064 to 2024 to kill Asabariki. Sent to protect him is Tamanosato (sumo Mario), who divulges the coming of SimpleGyoji, an artificial intelligence system that will spark a Yokozuna holocaust. Asabariki is targeted because SimpleGyoji knows that his friends (Kaitetsu, Asanosato, and Kamahiko) will lead the fight against them. With the virtually unstoppable Genbu in hot pursuit, Asabariki and Tamanosato attempt to escape.
