This interview has been a long time coming and today Asia and Jareed will talk with one of their friends who is a black man and works as a police officer in New England. We’re discussing many aspects about his experience in law enforcement and how being a black man in the height of the Black Lives Matter movement has or has not affected how he does his job. We also discuss how police departments react/respond to the killing of black Americans at the hands of police officers, and his experience working the riots that follow. We want to thank our anonymous guest for having such an open and honest conversation about his unique experience.
This week we wanted to honor Mental Health Awareness Month and shed light on an issue that affects so many of us. It is often the stresses of adulting that can push us to the edge, which is exactly what happened in James Hodges story. Tune into this episode to hear about James’ breaking point, his decision to attend in patient rehabilitation, and how he has addressed and overcome decades old trauma along the way. We want to thank James for sharing his story so vulnerably and hope that his experience will help you feel like you are not alone.

We are interviewing a VERY special guest today, and if you were born in the 90’s this will be a treat for you too! Sammie is one of the few in the music industry to make the successful transition from pre-teen hitmaker to grown-up artist. He first gained notoriety with the Gold-certified top 25 Billboard Hot 100 hit “I Like It” back in 1999 and is still making hits! Asia and Jareed are secretly “fan-girling” this episode, as they are both huge fans. Sammie is spilling his secrets on what it was like to transition to adulthood in the spotlight, how he overcame adversity and has remained authentic to himself and his craft.
