Donna J. Folken was born July 3, 1932, in Dodge, Nebraska to Arnold and Irma (Schulte) Jonas. She was baptized at St. Wensceslaus Church in Dodge and confirmed at Holy Trinity Heun. The family moved to Colfax County and she attended School District #28 and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1949. On August 23, 1950, she married Donald W. Folken at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Schuyler. She worked for J.M. McDonald's, Schuyler State Bank and then worked on the farm with her husband for 25 years. Donna enjoyed music, gardening, sewing, baking and playing cards with friends. After they retired from farming, she worked for 16 years at the St. Benedict Center in Schuyler. In 2011, they moved to Schuyler. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid, choir and taught Sunday School.
Surviving Donna are her two daughters, Lynn Steffensmeier of Schuyler, Connie (David) Becker of St. Cloud, Minnesota, son Brian Folken of Columbus, 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, great-grandson Jaiden Folken, and siblings Alice and Dale Miller, Elaine and Ken Wacha, Richard and Carolyn Jonas and Maxine and Milo Schmid.
