Imagine giving birth to a new baby at 21 years old and then being diagnosed with a brain tumor. What now? This is where support comes in. This is when Military Leaders are supposed to be at their best for you. This support is what we call "Taking care of your people". Anything less than that is what we call "Piss poor Leadership".
Shaton Evans, Master Sergeant in the US Air Force, wife, and mother of 3, shares her story of defying naysayers and overcoming adversity. As a Military Brat, and wanting to follow in her father’s footsteps, she had the desire to serve her country. However, as a young Airman and new mother, an unfortunate diagnosis threatened it all. When they told her she couldn’t, that she wouldn’t or shouldn’t… she did. Although Shaton struggled with illness and multiple injuries, she persevered and proved that she belonged. She found her passion in leading and mentoring individuals from all walks of life; ensuring that they never had to deal with what she encountered.
