Joining me today is Ms. McKinney of the "It's Porch Time" Podcast.
We share thoughts and insights on our journey through The Black Label Experience. Ms. McKinney is a professional who has been in a remote work setting for several years, yet she has still experienced some workplace issues that are less than ideal. The Black Label Experience is not a one size fits all approach, not something that is easily explained or in many cases understood yet it does exist.

The world as we know it is ever changing and social unrest is becoming more prevalent. We are continuously impacted and emotionally charged or drained by things such as crime, violence, school shootings etc. On this episode we talk about how these things impact our abilities to thrive and accomplish the mission as Military members.
Technical Sergeant Kalynn Danner is notably the JILL of all trades carrying many titles such as: business owner, student, mother and Airman. With nearly 10 years in service, 4 assignments, 2 degrees and many awards she has found that social issues are still unavoidable. Finding ways to face adversity head on can be complicated but doing it as a supervisor, mentor and mother adds in an additional set of challenges.
On today's episode we talked about effective ways to address the elephant in the room and many of the challenges she has faced in recent years. Enjoy!

Until Next Time, Be Kind to your body, soul & mind! ~ Cary
The emotional, mental, psychological and physical damages of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault can be daunting. Intimate partner violence not only impacts the relationship but the relationships with your children and extended family as well. Although this can change the very fabric of our being and leave us confused, sometimes we find the courage to use these challenges to fuel our purpose. My guest this week did just that!
Roweena Davis is a 20 year retired Army Veteran. She served as a victim advocate during her time in the Army Reserve and as a civilian, she is a senior HR Specialist for an Army Reserve Command. She is a part of Alpha Gamma Xi Military Sorority where she served as the program director for SWANS (Supporting Women and Nurturing Survivors) a resource that supports survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
In July of 2020, she decided enough was enough with the "quiet" issues in the military with domestic violence and sexual assault; so she founded WE BELIEVE YOU SOS (Supporting our Survivors) to provide resources and awareness to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Since its inception, her and her team were able to host a virtual 5K for military survivors of sexual assault that raised more than $10,000 for "Protect our Defenders". They have also had the opportunity to serve as hosts of their first annual Healing Conference for Women as well as a panel discussion on helping men overcome trauma. She has been featured with several other organizations on Clubhouse to be able to continue to raise awareness to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault amongst military members, veterans, and military spouses. She also served as a guest panelist with PAVE (Promoting Awareness/Victim Empowerment) on their BIPOC episode of how sexual assault and domestic violence affects Black Indigenous People of Color.
She is also a published author and assisted in giving her story of survival in Sisters in Arms: The Black Diamond Experience: Our Rise to Significance. In her chapter entitled “Good Enough,” she discusses her struggles of not feeling good enough which eventually led to many of her destructive relationships. She talks about her abusive marriage (both physically and mentally) and how she was able to finally leave everything behind and start new.
Roweena frequently shares her story and trauma as she knows that not only will it helps other survivors in her shoes, but it has helped her with her healing journey.
Grab a copy of her book on Amazon and support the We Believe you SOS organization.

Oh how times have changed!! One thing we can all agree on, is that in order to be successful as a military member, we must be flexible. Although change can be good, change takes time and must be managed to be effectively implemented. On this episode of Camouflaged Beauty, Que and I sat down and shared our thoughts on many of the changes we have seen over the past 20 years and how we have seen those changes impact our Airmen. From Uniforms to the communication on social media to promotion and networking , we are talking about it all.
Master Sergeant Marquetta "Q" Wines is a daughter, wife, mother, and United States Airman. She is currently serving a 1-year remote tour in the Azores, Portugal as the Section Chief of Plans and Resources. Sgt Wines has over 19 years in the Air Force and has performed her duties at 8 different duty stations in 4 different countries. Her husband retired from active duty after over 20 years of service to stay home and care for their 4 year old identical twin sons.
We hope you enjoy this episode and take a moment to leave us some feedback.

We continuously strive to eradicate Military Sexual Trauma. This ongoing fight though daunting, is necessary, and we will continue to fight on until sexual
assaults are no more!!

Women often spend alot of time on their hair to ensure it is perfect, glossy, healthy and just the way they like it. But what happens if you lose all your hair? How do you face the world with such a public illness that everyone can see? How do you serve in the Military with a condition such as Alopecia. Alopecia is an autoimmune disease that forces the body to reject hair. My guest this week shared her journey of Glowing through this illness .
Jazmin joined the Air Force a bit later than the average fresh from high school member. One of the reasons for her delayed entry was discovering she had Alopecia. 4 years after losing her hair, she decided to live boldly as her true self and pursue her dream of serving our country. With the encouragement and support of loved ones, she did just that! Today she is happy and proud of who she is! With an amazing family, husband and fur baby mini poodle named Bubbles & two birds Chico & Luna, this young Airman is bold and beautiful.
Jazmin's hope is to inspire women to always love themselves & never give up no matter what life brings their way.
