Don't Forget Meg Ryan episodes

  • 20 - A League Of Their Own
Well what can we say, we love a good sports movie, and much like Penny Marshall, a good sports montage as well! This week we watched A League Of Their Own and got to talk all about women's sports and why they should be appreciated in culture way more than they currently are.

Madonna is in this movie (and makes a surprisingly good comedy duo with 90s icon, Rosie O'Donnell), Tom Hanks is very good at yelling, and we just love a team dynamic. Also, Geena Davis has a perfect jawline and more movies should be about sisterly dynamics/rivalries. Justice for Kit!

  • 19 - YouTube: Erika Costell & Fit With Cambrie do Miami Swim Week
Grab your Celsius and get ready to dive into Miami Swim Week! We’re taking it back to 2019 and delving into one of our favorite things to talk about: YouTube, "content creators", and the art of vlogging.

Elite shit is happening in this episode y'all. How do you create the perfect smoothie texture? How dangerous is an Acai Bowl? Also, where is Baskin Champion?! Plus, Lucy tries celery juice for the first time!

  • 18 - Across The Universe
    Nuance? Never heard of her!

Today we're freeing our minds and chatting about the heavy-handed Beatles jukebox musical, Across The Universe.

Why did we love this movie so much when it came out? Did the movie Thirteen inspire our generation to do more whippets? Is this movie anti-protest? This movie needed a ‘Gee Officer Krupkee’ moment (and maybe a Glee-style Beatles mashup). We also answer the eternal question, does Ireland hate Bono?

  • 17 - Wimbledon
Whip up some strawberries & cream because we’re chatting all about one of our all-time favorite sports romcoms: Wimbledon! We would like to stay in a hotel and eat fish & chips now, please.

Where is a tournament we can enter *right now*? Why do all British rom-coms involve plucky Americans coming in to rescue them from themselves? Is Dieter Prohl a bi-icon? How quickly do fried foods get soggy? Come for the tennis talk, stay for the rants about Judd Apatow.

Tangents include: Chef (the show), why Marvel movies are treated like state secrets, the best local movie rental stores, amber diner glasses, the moment in culture that The DaVinci Code created, and why we want better for Leslie Mann!

  • 16 - Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team
Jerry Jones, give your cheerleaders health insurance!

Today we’re breaking from the norm to have a long discussion about one of our favorite reality shows Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team! We do want to give a content warning upfront, this episode includes discussion of disordered eating and the crass handling of weight shaming that happens on the show.

We’re talking about why we love a show about a specific subculture, why we have a grudge against a Dallas Meteorologist, and how Judi gets away with deflecting any form of questioning while offering some of the harshest criticism. It’s like *we’re* at media day!

  • 15 - The Women (2008)
“My hair is straight, paint my nails red, I am a different lady”

This week we are headed to the recovery hotel to talk about our first Meg Ryan movie, The Women!

Is this just a movie knockoff of Sex and the City? Why did movies of the 2000s use straight hair as their line of demarcation? Has anyone ever burned their tampons in a terra-cotta bowl? Honestly, we just want to see the play revival starring Kristen Johnson, Jennifer Coolidge, and Cynthia Nixon.

  • 14 - The Prom
This week we watched the new Ryan Murphy movie-musical, The Prom! Did we like this movie? No, not really. But we did remember halfway through that Nicole Kidman was in Moulin Rouge!

We’re pitching an Animal Crossing musical (complete with Timmy & Tommy tap duet), talking about our favorite broadway musicals, and really try to get to the bottom of how The Prom movie managed to sap all of the joy out of a very joyful stage show.

Ultimately, we would appreciate an adaptation of 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee instead & would recommend going to watch the Documentary Now episode Co-Op: The Musical.

  • 13.5 - Getting Involved in the Nancy Meyers Discourse
It's Nancy Meyers week over at vulture.com, but Nancy's daughter didn't find all of the reporting to be...flattering. So we're popping in for a mid-week recap of what went down between Rachel Handler and Hallie Meyers-Shyer on social media.

It's absolutely worth checking out all of Rachel's articles and interviews--especially if you're a Nancy fan. While Hallie has gone private on instagram all of the screenshots are still up on twitter if you want to reference the primary sources.

While we could go on and on about Nancy Meyers in general, we wanted to focus on the role of social media, nepotism in hollywood, and why sometimes these thoughts could be better off sent to a group text.

  • 13 - The Holiday & Love Actually
This week we officially petition for Jack Black to be a lead in more romcoms & discuss two of our most-watched Christmas movies: The Holiday & Love Actually.

Is a Christmas Movie set in Britain inherently better? Is Love Actually the most fatphobic movie of all time? Do we just want more familial and friendship centered movies overall? Turns out, Christmas movies are kind of sad. But somehow we still love them!

  • 12 - The Princess Switch: Switched Again
Guess we're going to Belgravia (er, Montenaro this time), this week we got into the holiday spirit with The Princess Switch: Switched Again

Do we know anything about monarchies or lines of succession? What are our favorite Christmas movie tropes? How legal is a last-minute airport wedding? Honestly, we just want Netflix to release their new map of Europe.
