  • Follow the Leader-Instagram and Fitness-Ep 3

In this week’s podcast, we talk about Instagram and fitness and how it can influence people during their fitness journey. This social media platform can be used as a positive tool for motivation and community but also has its drawbacks. It’s possible, you can become too focused on the wrong aspects such as, other’s fitness progress and comparing yourself to these fitness influencers/models. You also begin feeling overwhelmed due to all the information you are encountering on a daily basis. There are different ways to control these drawbacks like being picky in whom you follow and also giving social media a break to stay focused on your own fitness journey/goals and focusing on being the best version of yourself. What are your feelings on the rise of the Instagram fitness model movement?

  • The early bird gets the gains – Benefits of Morning Workouts Ep 2

Welcome back! This week we chose the topic: taking initiative to go to the gym in the mornings and the pros and cons of doing so. Some of these pros being: the gym is less crowded, getting a boost of endorphins before work and not having to deal with this Atlanta traffic in the afternoons. Anthony and I started going to the gym in the morning near the beginning of 2019 and we both agreed that it was one of the best decisions we’ve made this year by far. In this podcast, we also talk about the steps you should take the night before to prepare for your early morning workouts such as, getting enough sleep and laying out your work clothes and gym equipment the night before. As you will hear in the podcast, the benefits drastically outweighed the cons and we recommend everyone take the initiative to go the gym in the mornings. • Is Meal Prep worth the effort? – Ep 1

Welcome to the first episode of our podcast “Don’t Forget to Breathe Podcast” hosted by Sade and Anthony, a black couple living and thriving through fitness! The name of our podcast, “Don’t Forget to Breathe”, has several different meanings for us. For one, don’t forget to take breaks in life to cope with stress, don’t be afraid to take a moment and think through your decisions, or something as simple as don’t forget to breathe during your workouts so you can perform to your fullest potential. We both love fitness and health and have made big strides in our own fitness journeys, while also making plenty of mistakes along the way. We aren’t beginners but we aren’t veterans either; just two fitness nerds, who want to help out others.

Our first podcast is about meal prep and if it’s worth the effort for anyone trying to stay on track with their nutrition. We also talk about some of our personal experiences with meal prepping and the benefits this process has brought within our lives. So, without further ado, click ‘play’ below and support us on this new journey! Hold on tight, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride and don’t forget to breathe!

    How to start Meal Prep

    1. Write down a meal plan for your week.  We suggest starting with prepping your lunches.
    2. List the required ingredients for easier shopping and make sure all of your cookware is cleaned and ready and you have enough containers to store meals.
    3. Make sure anything that needs to be thawed or marinated is ready beforehand.
    4. Cook.
    5. Divide meals into containers for each day and store. (If you are counting calories us a scale to weigh out proteins and carbs)
    6. Be the admiration of everyone at your office
