We engage in playing games while dating because we often seek to shield ourselves from the discomfort of vulnerability and the sharing of emotional intimacy. Many women recognize the influence they possess in the dating world and, consequently, employ these tactics to avoid appearing too readily available or overly open to potential partners. However, it's crucial to distinguish between merely playing hard to get and genuinely embodying that quality.

When we resort to playing games, our intention is for the other person to recognize our value and worth, attributes that we may sometimes fail to acknowledge in ourselves.
