Welcome to June! The start of something new! Summertime! Butterflies! My birth month!

This month’s cornucopia is full of promise. Of course, with promise comes the unknown, which can also lead to a lot of apprehension. If you feel more fear than excitement, that’s perfectly okay. It may help to reflect on other moments in your life or even this year when you had to jump into the unknown of something new. You may remember how you eventually adapted, how the new thing eventually became so mundane you barely noticed it.

Or maybe you jumped into the new thing, seized up, and jumped right back out like it was an ice-cold pool. Note how both responses are perfectly normal?

Now then, there’s no time to waste, so let’s get into the reading.

If you would like your own personal reading, you can book a session on my website or upgrade to a paid subscription of this newsletter and request a card reading.

BOTD: King of Swords

Our overall energy for this month calls in a clear head. We use our discernment and logic to navigate the new path emerging. The swords, while concerned with matters of the head, are also invested in justice. The King approaches matters fairly and kindly. This doesn’t always mean he will be gentle, but compassion will always hold equal weight to practicality. That is the mastery our King has achieved: the ability to be analytical with heart.

As June welcomes this air of authority in this new terrain, trust what you know to be true. Trust that you know how to make a decision, even when you feel like an ingénue.

Card 1: Queen of Wands

When Queen of Wands arrives in a reading, I always point out how she is an idealist. This idealism is usually associated with the Piscean Page of Cups, the kind that lives in dreamy space where imagination can roam without a tether. The Queen of Wands’ idealism is more direct than that. She is associated with Leo, a sign that is similarly grandiose, but is very attached to making the dream come true at all costs. If Pisces is skilled in imagining worlds, Leo’s focus is bringing those worlds to reality.

In both cases, this can lead to a lack of compromise. Lucky for us, Jupiter will soon be in Leo to invite us into the delusion of limitless possibility later in the month. Focus on the fire burning in you, the thing that is begging to be made real. No matter how lofty and ambitious, there is a reason it comes into focus right now as we’re landing something new. Try to zero in on the essence to guide you forward.

Card 2: Ace of Pentacles & Page of Swords

Ace of Pentacles came out on top, making it our “face” energy. On the surface, we are encountering a newness we can see and touch. This isn’t a new idea, new perspective, or new love. This is a new presence we can name very clearly in our lives.

Underneath, the Page of Swords lingers. Whatever this new venture is, we don’t feel stable in it yet. We may feel wobbly making decisions about this new thing, slightly unclear about the information available. Remember that you were not born yesterday and that it is normal to learn as you go. The point is to go forward in the first place. One quote I keep running into is, “Great people do things before they’re ready. They do things before they know they can do it.” That’s what this combination is emphasizing. When the universe says to leap, there will always be somewhere to land.

Card 3: Ace of Swords

You would think that would be enough change for one month. But that’s not how changes work; they’re a domino effect. Ace of Swords signals that while a more obvious door opened first, another door will reveal itself to shift our way of thinking. This is a natural shift when we begin to take risks, trust ourselves, and allow ourselves to grow.

However this shift appears for you; remember that it is only the beginning of this new chapter many of us will be entering. Find solace in not having to face this change alone.

Summary:

This year has been a slow march to the other side, and we have finally arrived at the starting point. We feel levelheaded, clear-eyed, and armed with the skill of discernment as we progress forward. A grand vision emerges at the beginning of the month as we consider what we would like to see arrive on our path as we move forward. Sure, the dream is big, but we are determined to see it through. We’re met with our first challenge in the form of a choice or assessment made at the arrival of something new in our lives. Despite whatever fears we have about making a bad swing, this new thing brings in a new perspective that will be sure to shape how we continue to progress on our journey into next month. However this month manifests for you, remember that you are more capable than you know.

Sending you the best of wishes this June! Until next time!

But wait: there’s more!

In a moment of curiosity and experimentation, I decided to clarify this month’s reading with additional cards. I do this during most readings because it always brings a nice layer of nuance to the messaging. Let’s dive a little deeper, shall we?

BOTD: King of Cups

This new back-of-the-deck energy is the overall energy of our clarifying cards. While we had King of Swords earlier, King of Cups is here to reveal how we’re not only entering this new era with a well-established head but also a well-established heart. We can handle the emotional ups and downs with maturity, moving with the flow instead of against it. If you read April’s forecast, I referenced the Zhuangzi story of the butcher, which is meant to explain the concept of wuwei. The King of Cups is a master in this principle.

Two Kings showing up here really emphasizes how much growth has happened to reach this new arena we find ourselves in. Make sure to celebrate that.

Clarifying Queen of Wands: The Emperor & Ten of Wands

The Emperor is our face, mirroring the Queen of Wands’ fire energy since he is associated with Aries. That means we have similar go-getter energy present, but this one is more masculine in his approach. The Emperor also marks the presence of authority and experience we have when it comes to mapping this vision we have for ourselves. Our loftiness is not born out of naivety but instead a result of what we know we want and can achieve.

Ten of Wands taps the Emperor’s shoulder to reveal the overwhelm that these ideas may cause. Yes, you are skilled and highly capable, but sometimes our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. Thankfully, the Ten of Wands asks us to assess which of these burdens we carry we can allow someone else to hold. You do not need to make your dream come true all on your own. Being self-made is a misnomer for the much more real experience of bringing your vision to life through the trusted hands of a team you may not even be the center of.

Clarifying Ace of Pentacles & Page of Swords: Seven of Pentacles & Seven of Swords

Seven is not an ideal number to see in tarot, and we have three of them present in this clarification. It’s a tricky energy, especially here. On the face of this placement, Seven of Pentacles reveals that this new thing coming in doesn’t seem quite right. There’s root rot here: what we want to grow isn’t growing how we want it to. This explains the hesitant energy of the Page of Swords around this new thing. How’re we supposed to feel sure about it if it’s not quite what we want to see?

Underneath, Seven of Swords tries to sneak away. In the material space of this new thing, something seems off. In the internal mental space, there is trickery afoot. Did you thoroughly check your contracts? Did you check every seam of the new jacket you plan to buy? It’s not too late to go back. This trickery may not be external but an internal guise. Do you actually not want to go to the party, or are you scared of being seen? Do you actually want to do the project, or are you scared that a better-fitting opportunity won’t come? Seven of Swords is very ego-driven, leading us to abandon the two swords of our intuition. Slow down, get quiet, and remember that you can trust that little voice inside yourself.

Clarifying Ace of Swords: Seven of Wands

We’ve muddled through fishy waters, and we feel sharper for it. We feel more protective of ourselves and our path forward, fully committed to the original vision of our Queen of Wands. Be mindful not to take any slip-ups as justification to be hypervigilant. Learn the difference between when your internal meter is trying to protect your ego and when it is protecting a part of you that really needs that insurance. Rest assured that regardless, nothing is getting past us this time, and we will not back down from what we believe in.

Summary:

These clarifiers revealed the undercurrent anxieties of this new season. We have the comfort of arriving in not only a more mature headspace but also an equally seasoned heartspace to guide our path forward. This realized heart navigates the ups and downs of this new path with ease.

During the beginning of the month’s envisioning, we face both our ambition and overwhelm. The ambition comes from a deep well of experiences we draw from to shape this new path. As we draw these plans, we are forced to reckon with our limited bandwidth that calls on us to bring in some helping hands.

As the month progresses and something new emerges, the new revealed isn’t quite what we’d hoped. Its odd shape makes us wary of our capabilities. In this moment of mental confusion, we may miss betrayals from others, internal trickery from ourselves, or thwarts beyond our control. In facing this, we are given a new outlook, gearing us to set better boundaries and defenses to protect what we hold dear, especially regarding the original dream we envision at the start of the month.

While these clarifiers reveal a heavier truth, don’t let that slow you down. Remember that you are capable of more than you know, that all you’ve experienced has equipped you for this moment. Find solace in that as you move forward into this month.
