I sit down with Ian Collins. For most of his life, he's been keeping other people safe whilst dancing on the edge of risk. He's travelled the world as an international Safety & Performance Coach, worked with many industry-leading organizations and helped thousands of people from all walks of life stay safe and realize their potential. He's lived on five different continents and explored a lot of this globe, walked on fire, jumped out of planes, ridden bobsleighs and motorbikes at breakneck speeds, swam with sharks, climbed mountains and active volcanoes, taken plant medicine in the jungle, come face-to-face with pirates in the Congo, barely avoided being thrown in jail in Libya, trained entrepreneurs in North Korea and even sent flowers to Chairman Kim Jong-un in a gesture of peace. He's dedicated his life to curiosity and play.
Ian's deep desire to understand what makes us tick has lead him to specializing in Human and Organizational Performance – the science of systems-driven behavior and understanding of how and why people make mistakes. He works with organizations on some of the riskiest frontiers to build more resilient and reliable systems that keep planes in skies, prevent oil rigs from blowing up, nuclear plants from melting down, and ultimately get people home safely to their families and keep the environment free from harm.
