These are all examples of MICROAGGRESSIONS, and yes I've experienced the scenarios listed above. In honor of Black History Month, I would like to use this platform to have a honest conversation of how microaggressions can be harmful to Black/Black identifying POC. Serving some insight from Dr. Derald Wing Sue, a psychologist and researcher at Columbia University we uncover how subconscious bias thoughts and actions could be well masked subtle racism, the uncomfortable truth of white guilt and most importantly how to become a better ally. The tea is real hot this week folks! With a little tough love, and lots of Black Girl Magic, Happy Black History Month.
