Gary tries hard to not ruin the episode by (slightly) stepping aside and letting Dom ramble on about how overloaded his brain is. The gang also makes a bit of time to discuss CG admiration as they try to answer the question "Can you truly love a computer-generated character?"
Are you a D2BA fan? Do you like questions? Do you like fan questions asked by fans who are fans of our show? Well, you're in luck! We had a bunch of fan questions piled up from episodes past, so we thought it'd be fun to take a spin through some. Enjoy!
Gary celebrates five years of D2BA by stealing Matt's topic and bullying the rest of the gang into talking about Batman V Superman, even though everyone agreed we wouldn't discuss is. Gary is the worst! We also take a quick spin around Dom's Peter Pan complex, Matt's exploration of child phycology and Obi's outrage for outrage culture.
It the episode you've all been waiting for. The episode that we were put on this earth to record. Our Star Wars episode! Of course, in typical Doomed to Be Awesome fashion, we recorded it a couple of months after the theatrical release of episode 7 and then (thanks to slacker Gary) waited another two months to post it. However! The Force Awakens was just released on home video yesterday, so we’ve somehow - through the gift of the universe perhaps - fell ass backwards into being timely. Yay for us! Enjoy!
To celebrate the amazing accomplishment of recording 30 episodes, everyone lets Dom win and he decides to talk about spreadsheets. Well, not really, but kind of. Also Gary introduces a new segment to piss off Obi and Matt introduces all of us to the world of competitive pumpkin carving.
Super spooky Halloween poopy and other deeply insightful topics are shared as the boys celebrate their favorite season. Is this the episode Dom's topic finally wins? Probably not.
The boys are back! And they're mediocre as ever! After a quick spin 'round planet recap, Gary, Dom, Obi and Matt dive right into this week's show-n-tell. Dom talks about his abandoned scarf project, Obi relives his glory years collecting Gumby collectibles, Matt uses words like Quid pro quo, and (of course) Gary mocks everyone. Like slipping slowly into a warm bath...damn it feels good to be back.
Did you know that Gary used to work for Saturday Night Live? Matt launched his A/V career wearing cargo shorts and Obi spent the first year out of college in a drunken haze parking cars at a casino? All this and more as the guys continue their discussion around Dom's current headspace and paranoia as he approaches his 1-year anniversary of graduating college.
Why does Dom love Spiderman? What's the deal with that? Well, that happens to be the million dollar question this week as the guys chat about fandom and explore the the world of Movie subcultures and superfans. Also, with the 1-year anniversary of Dom's college graduation looming, we begin to discuss Dom's suggested topic surrounding his current headspace, worries, and paranoia of being out of school...all of which we will pick up on part two of this episode.
This weeks show-n-tell features four wonderful topics; Hot off a recent discovery, Matt has collectibles on the mind, Dom takes a break from his latest animation project to ponder what skill we all wish we were better at, in celebration of Photoshop's 25th anniversary, Gary asks what technology has impacted on our career choices and Obi uses the new Power Rangers short to chat about favors. In the end, the boys dive head first into Obi's topic and spend the majority of the show swapping hilarious and absurd favor stories. Three episodes in on the new format and everyone has earned a point, except Dom. Poor Dom. Sad.
