On Day 2 of Dormition Parish’s Lenten Mission, Deacon Cyril Kennedy turns to Psalm 103 and the meaning of repentance.
Repentance is not bad news — it is the invitation to turn back, to find our way home to the life God intends for us. Through Psalm 103, we are reminded that God is sovereign over creation, over chaos, and over our own lives. The Psalm calls us to stop centering everything on ourselves and instead to look at what God has done — and continues to do — for us.
From the waters of creation to the waters of baptism, from death to restored life, this reflection reveals how the Psalms speak both about us and ultimately about Christ. At the end of the day, when we are tempted to dwell on our frustrations or accomplishments, the Church places praise on our lips and reminds us: God restores life.
