Dot to Dot - the daily 5min Alexa demo show

Today Lisa Salinger of the excellent Mystic Access podcast kindly demos the Earthquakes skill that gives a run-down of all the recent quakes across The States. You might not think that North America experiences quakes very often - in fact there are several every day...

If you don't live in the UK then hopefully you'll have an equivalent skill in your area; Job Finder lists the top matches for types of job posted in the last 24hrs in a city of your choice. Happy hunting.

Today's two skills are all about creating your own random fantasy characters for use in your favourite roll-play game. The first isn't bad, but the second is frankly a load of rubbish so I'm not entirely sure why I have included it at all...

Today we (probably rather disrespectfully) look at how to get each day's horoscope for your star sign from the new built-in A-Lady ability. Sourced from The Astro Twins, she serves you up a detailed daily dose of galactic guidance and please all email me to complain about my flippant attitude to today's topic ([email protected]) and, whilst you're at it, pop in a recording of a skill which I'll put up in a future episode.

If you like playing rock, paper, scissors (or 'Paper, scissors, stone' as we say in the UK) then you're probably still not going to be too enamoured with this skill which takes it to a whole new level of sci-fi/reptile strangeness. What was it; Spock tickles lizard, lizard reads paper and paper wraps Spock?? I can't keep up!

Bit of a bitty one today so apologies for that, but we end up with a really good flavour of what this excellent workout skill has to offer. Happy huffing and puffing.

Yes - today's episode is about asking the A-lady for help (which triggers the Translate It skill which we revisit) and we also take a look at a skill called Spanish which tests you on your Español. ¡Divertirse!

A huge thanks to listener Scott Vandewalle for contributing today's skill. Song Quiz will pit you against opponents across the US to test your pop knowledge in a merciless musical head-to-head. Not available in the UK ,as yet. Anyone else who'd like to contribute an episode please just send to me at [email protected].

Today we look at a D&D-style adventure game that is definitely several charisma points above your average. For hardened fantasy roll-players only, this one will keep your virtual character occupied from beginning to sticky end. BTW I neglected to say that you enable it in the normal way; "A-lady enable Dungeon Adventure"

If you're feeling positive and up-beat then this classic British TV series is the perfect antidote. Actually, the infinitely grumpy Victor Meldrew will definitely bring a smile - of the slightly pained variety...
