  • Double Dawgcast Episode 70: The Start of Spring, DeBoer Edition
A whole month has passed since our last show, so we do our best to close out the 2021-2022 season for UW basketball, round up all the news from the start of spring football, and make some educated and not so educated guesses at what the next month or so might hold for our beloved Huskies. We’ll be submerging for a little bit as we tend to other matters, but we’ll be back before you know it!

  • Double Dawgcast Episode 69: Oops All (Mostly) Basketball Edition
The conclusion of the 2021-2022 NCAA basketball season brings a chance for yet another referendum on the Mike Hopkins era, so we do our best to make sense of the results from the Huskies’ last 9 games, try to figure out the fan dissonance when rooting for a mediocre team, and Derrick takes yet another swing at the best gameshow around: “Guess the KenPom Rating”. And we have a quick word on the lack of news in football and how what non-sports analysis we do in our off time.
@0:45 – Coach K spent 5 years coaching at Army and 42 years coaching at Duke.
@14:44 – No editing on that response, so we’ll have to chalk that one up to technical difficulties.

  • Double Dawgcast Episode 68: Basketball Hopes and Signing Day Reactions
As January fades, the hoop Huskies rise up with another mini run of success, so we lead off our show with praise for Mike Hopkins and the squad, wonder why it took the team as long as it did to find their stride, and ponder an alternate timeline where Terrell Brown Jr. comes to Montlake earlier. We also assess the job Kalen DeBoer did at signing day and throw out some way too early spring practice predictions.

  • Double Dawgcast Episode 67: First, Second, and Third Impressions
We ring in 2022 with a new sense of cautious optimism as we review the slightly modified football coaching staff, discuss some comings and goings for UW football players, and try to figure out how much time Mike Hopkins has bought with a mini winning streak. We also do a little geography review and talk through the pride we have in UW being one of three schools to have the capacity for sailgating for a Saturday football game.

  • Double Dawgcast Episode 66: The Emperor’s New Court and Year End Thoughts
A winter snow storm has come just in the wake of Christmas, so what better time then to assess the new UW football coaching staff, 2021 recruiting class, and all the transfers that have occurred. We also turn our eye to basketball after pushing it off the agenda for the last few weeks, wonder if this is Mike Hopkins’ last stand, and balance the sourness of emotions with some 2021 football superlatives and Derrick’s wise words on the new year.

The football season has ended and the Huskies have experienced the end of the Lake/Gregory era and have ushered in the DeBoer era, so take a listen on how we felt after a wild three weeks for UW football on and off the field, give our thoughts on the hire of Kalen DeBoer as Washington’s newest head football coach, and how he should approach building his staff in Seattle. Plus, a conclusion to the Burger Bet and our initial impressions on the 2021 College Football Playoff and who we think is taking home the championship.

  • Double Dawgcast Episode 64: A Monumental Mess on Montlake
It’s our longest episode ever which is only fitting given the mess the UW football team has made for themselves and the rough start to the basketball season. Recorded in two parts, come listen to our thoughts on the football team’s performance on Stanford, Oregon, and Arizona State, Jimmy Lake’s fatal mistakes that lead to his suspension and eventual termination, and who we think the search committee should target. We also discuss a shaky start for Mike Hopkins and the basketball squad and get our directional state colleges confused for powerhouses.
