What’s the first word that comes when to mind when you hear “Thomas”?
Most often, doubt.
Thomas doubted Jesus was alive. And the point of that story is: don’t be like Thomas.
But, is the story of Thomas encountering Jesus after the resurrection just a caution for us to not doubt?
Or, is this encounter between Thomas and Jesus about something deeper?
Maybe the focus is less on Thomas, and more on Jesus.
Maybe the focus is less on Thomas’ doubt, and more on how Jesus responds to our doubts.
Because Jesus sees our doubts differently than we do.
To us, doubt is bad.
To Jesus, doubt is a bridge.
