Simpsonville resident Doug Butler was a navigator in the Vietnam War, and an environmental engineer after. He has retired from both, but stays busy with volunteer work and building dry stone fences. His current project is on Main Street near Centenary United Methodist Church, where he carefully places limestone rocks, obtained from interesting sources, to form a secure wall.
