  • Change Your Life by Taking the Next Faithful Step With Jesus

Change your life does not have to mean figuring out your entire future today. Sometimes it means having enough faith to take the next step.

There are seasons when we become frustrated because life seems stuck. We pray for something new, but our routines remain the same. We want peace, purpose, confidence, stronger faith, healthier relationships, or a new beginning, yet fear keeps us circling familiar territory.

Jesus gives us a powerful lesson through the way He called His first disciples.

    He said, “Follow Me.”

They did not receive a detailed explanation of everything that would happen next. They were asked to trust Him enough to move.

That is important when you are facing uncertainty.

Faith is not always knowing exactly how everything is going to work out. Sometimes faith is knowing who you are following while you take the next step.

This message is for the person who feels spiritually tired, emotionally discouraged, anxious about what comes next, or frustrated by a pattern that seems impossible to break.

You may not control everything that happened to you. Some pain was never your choice.

But your next decision is still yours.

Maybe it is time to change a habit. Start something you have delayed. Let go of something damaging your peace. Return to prayer. Spend time in Scripture. Have the difficult conversation. Forgive. Ask for help. Try again.

Jesus does not require you to know the entire journey before you begin following Him.

Take the step you can see.

Trust Him with the one after that.

Your life may not change in a single dramatic moment. It may change through hundreds of small, faithful decisions made one day at a time.

And that kind of change is still powerful.

  • Spiritual Strength for Hard Times: When You Need Faith for One More Day

Spiritual strength for hard times is not always the strength to conquer everything in front of you. Sometimes it is simply enough strength to make it through today without giving up on what God may still be doing.

This episode is for the person who is exhausted.

    Not physically tired alone.

    The deeper kind of tired.

The kind that comes from thinking too much, worrying too long, carrying disappointment quietly, praying about the same situation repeatedly, or wondering why something you desperately wanted has not changed.

When we reach that place, our minds can become trapped inside the present moment.

All we see is what hurts now.

Jesus' disciples experienced something surprisingly similar.

After witnessing Jesus miraculously feed thousands of people, they found themselves concerned about bread again. Jesus reminded them of what they had already seen.

That reminder contains an important lesson for anybody struggling today:

Do not allow a new problem to erase your memory of God's past faithfulness.

    Think about your own life.

There are situations that once seemed impossible that no longer control you.

There are losses you learned to carry.

There are disappointments that changed you without destroying you.

There are prayers you survived while waiting for answers.

You may still carry scars, but scars are different from open wounds.

    You came through.

In this message, I want to help you remember that the difficult season you are living through is not necessarily the destination.

You may be dealing with fear.

    You may be carrying regret.

You may be grieving something that ended.

You may simply be overwhelmed by how uncertain life feels.

Jesus does not ask you to pretend those emotions are not real.

He asks you to trust Him inside them.

You do not need enough strength for next month tonight.

You need enough grace for today.

    Enough courage for today's conversation.

    Enough faith for today's decision.

Enough peace to take the next step.

Then tomorrow, you meet God there again.

Listen when you need a reminder that hard seasons change, faith grows through difficulty, and your present circumstances do not have the authority to write the ending of your story.

  • Christian Encouragement: What Jesus Teaches About the Gifts You May Be Overlooking

Christian encouragement is especially important when you begin believing that you have nothing meaningful to offer.

Maybe you do not see yourself as especially talented.

Maybe there is no obvious ability that makes people stop and notice.

Maybe you have spent years watching other people discover their calling while wondering what yours is supposed to be.

    This conversation is for you.

Jesus told the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25, and one of the most important parts of that story is easy to miss.

The servants did not receive the same amount.

    One received five talents.

    One received two.

    One received one.

Jesus did not describe equality of ability or opportunity.

    He described responsibility.

Each person was asked to faithfully use what had been entrusted to them.

That changes the conversation about purpose.

You do not need to possess an obvious talent before your life can matter.

Maybe your greatest gift is how deeply you care.

Maybe you have survived enough difficulty to recognize pain in another person.

Maybe you know how to listen without judging.

    Maybe you are faithful.

Maybe people can count on you.

Maybe you keep praying when everyone else has given up.

Maybe you have learned how to endure.

Those qualities can become gifts in the hands of God.

This episode is an invitation to stop looking sideways.

Stop measuring your life against somebody else’s achievements.

Stop assuming that visible success equals spiritual significance.

    Jesus praised faithfulness.

That means you can begin where you are.

    With what you have.

    Today.

You may be able to help one person.

    Do it.

You may be able to encourage someone.

    Do it.

You may have a responsibility that needs your attention.

    Give it your best.

You may have a painful story that could someday give another person hope.

Do not assume God is finished using it.

Faith is not always about doing something enormous.

Sometimes faith is quietly saying, “God, I will use what You have put in my hands.”

And perhaps that is where purpose begins.

    Not with becoming somebody else.

But with becoming faithful where you are.

  • Negative Self-Talk: How Jesus Helps Us Stop Condemning Ourselves

Negative self-talk often sounds reasonable because it uses pieces of our real life against us.

    You did make the mistake.

    The relationship really did end.

    You were rejected.

    You are afraid.

Something did not work out the way you hoped.

But the danger comes when a real event becomes a permanent conclusion about who you are.

That is where I want to introduce a phrase I use: SiN—Self-Inflicted Negatives.

These are the thoughts we keep repeating until pain turns into identity.

    “I always ruin things.”

    “I am too far gone.”

    “I should have done better.”

“Nothing is ever going to change.”

There is a difference between conviction and condemnation.

    Jesus makes that difference clear.

In John 8, when a woman was publicly exposed for her sin, Jesus did not deny that change was needed. But He also did not reduce her entire life to that failure.

    He gave her truth.

    He gave her grace.

And then He gave her somewhere to go.

    Forward.

That is what many of us struggle to do.

We believe God forgives, but we keep prosecuting ourselves.

We say we trust Jesus, but we keep treating our worst moment like it has more authority than His grace.

We ask God for peace while continuing to feed the thoughts that destroy it.

This conversation is about learning to notice that pattern.

It is about asking whether the voice inside your head actually sounds like Christ.

It is about repentance without self-hatred.

    Responsibility without hopelessness.

Faith without pretending life is easy.

And learning to stop carrying tomorrow before tomorrow arrives.

If you have been dealing with regret, anxiety, self-condemnation, fear, comparison, or emotional exhaustion, I hope you will sit with this message for a few minutes.

You may not control every thought that enters your mind.

But you can decide which thoughts get to stay.

    Bring them to Jesus.

    Let truth challenge fear.

    Let grace answer condemnation.

    And keep following Christ forward.

  • Why Did Jesus Pray If He Is God? The Trinity, Gethsemane, and the Holy Spirit in Everyday Faith

Why did Jesus pray if He is God? It is not just a theological question. It touches prayer, suffering, obedience, trust, and how we actually experience God in everyday life.

In this episode, Douglas Vandergraph takes that question apart without burying it beneath complicated terminology.

Jesus is fully God, yet Jesus is not the Father. Christianity teaches one God eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Understanding that distinction helps explain why Jesus prayed and why His conversations with the Father were completely real.

The discussion then moves into Gethsemane, where Jesus asks for the cup of suffering to pass while still surrendering Himself to the Father's will.

That moment tells us something deeply personal about faith.

Jesus did not pretend pain was painless.

He did not deny the weight of what He was facing.

He brought His anguish directly to the Father and continued forward in obedience.

For anyone carrying stress, fear, grief, disappointment, or unanswered prayer, that matters.

You are allowed to tell God what hurts.

You are allowed to ask Him for a different outcome.

Trust does not require emotional dishonesty.

This episode also answers another question Christians often have: if you pray directly to Jesus, where does the Holy Spirit fit?

The Holy Spirit is not being bypassed. He is actively involved in the believer's life—helping us pray, guiding us toward truth, transforming our character, strengthening us in weakness, and glorifying Christ.

    The Father draws us.

    The Son saves us.

    The Spirit works within us.

If the Trinity has ever felt confusing, or if you have wondered how these truths affect your actual prayer life, this conversation offers a clear and encouraging place to begin.

  • Hope After Failure | A Conversation About Peter, Grace, and Getting Back Up

Hope after failure is sometimes difficult to accept because part of us believes we should have known better.

That is what makes Peter such an important person to talk about.

He was not indifferent to Jesus. He loved Him. Peter simply discovered that sincere intentions and human strength are not always the same thing.

When Jesus was arrested, Peter became afraid and denied knowing Him three times. Afterward, he had to live with the knowledge that he had done exactly what he insisted he would never do.

I think many of us have lived some version of that.

We have reacted badly. Made the wrong choice. Gone back to something we thought we had left behind. Let fear speak for us. Then we sat alone with the question of what that failure meant about us.

Jesus answered that question for Peter through restoration.

He met Peter after the resurrection and gave him purpose again.

That does not mean Peter’s failure suddenly became insignificant. It means failure was not powerful enough to cancel grace.

In this conversation, I want to talk about what happens after you fall. Not how to pretend it never happened, but how to face it honestly, learn from it, bring it to Christ, and stop allowing one moment to become your entire identity.

You may not be able to rewrite the decision you made.

You can still let God shape the person who comes out of it.

Listen when you have some quiet time. Give yourself room to think about what you have been carrying and whether Jesus may be asking you to put some of it down.

Sometimes getting back up begins when you finally believe you are allowed to.

  • Hope in Hard Times: The Jesus Lesson That Could Change How You Treat People

Hope in hard times sometimes arrives through another person who simply decides to treat you with kindness.

Think about the moments when you were struggling and almost nobody knew.

Maybe you were scared about the future. Maybe something was falling apart at home. Maybe you were mentally exhausted, financially worried, grieving, lonely, or trying to pray your way through something you did not know how to fix.

You probably still looked normal to most people.

That is why this lesson from Jesus matters.

In Mark 5, Christ was moving through a crowd when a woman who had suffered for twelve years reached out to Him. Jesus could have continued walking. Instead, He stopped.

One person mattered enough to interrupt the journey.

Imagine carrying that attitude into your own relationships.

The person who frustrates you may need compassion more than correction in that moment. The person who seems withdrawn may need someone willing to notice. The person who made a mistake may already be carrying more shame than you realize.

And someday that person will be you.

Following Jesus means learning to see beyond appearances.

You cannot heal every wound. You cannot solve everyone's problems. But you can decide not to make someone's burden unnecessarily heavier.

    A kind word can matter.

    Patience can matter.

    Being present can matter.

And when nobody seems to understand what you are carrying, Christ still does.

This episode is a reminder that compassion is not weakness and kindness is never wasted.

  • Christian Encouragement When You Feel Overwhelmed: Where Are Your Eyes Right Now?

Christian encouragement when you feel overwhelmed does not require someone to tell you that everything will magically work out.

Sometimes what you really need is someone to sit with you in the uncertainty and remind you that Jesus has not disappeared.

Maybe you are carrying something privately.

You are doing what needs to be done. You keep showing up. You keep trying to be strong for everyone around you.

    But inside, you are tired.

Your thoughts keep circling around the same worry.

You are asking God what happens next, and the answer has not become clear.

I want to talk to you about Peter.

Not as a distant Bible character, but as a man who knew what it felt like to become overwhelmed by what was happening around him.

Peter stepped out of a boat because Jesus called him.

At first, his attention was on Christ.

    Then he noticed the wind.

    Fear took over.

    He sank.

There is something deeply human about that.

    We do the same thing.

We begin with faith, and then life gets loud.

    A medical bill shows up.

    Someone changes toward us.

    Work becomes uncertain.

    A family problem gets worse.

We lie awake at night trying to solve tomorrow before tomorrow arrives.

And slowly, the storm takes up more room in our minds than Jesus does.

This conversation is about bringing your attention back.

It is about recognizing that Christian faith is not pretending bad things do not happen.

It is trusting that Jesus is present when they do.

You may not be able to change everything today.

But you can change where you place your attention.

You can pray instead of endlessly rehearsing fear.

You can take the next step instead of demanding that God show you the entire road.

You can remember that a difficult chapter is not automatically the ending.

And if you have already become afraid, you can do exactly what Peter did.

    Call out to Jesus.

He did not abandon Peter for becoming afraid.

    He reached for him.

That is the kind of Savior you are walking with.

In this episode, Douglas Vandergraph shares a personal, practical lesson about faith, perspective, anxiety, fear, spiritual strength, and trusting Jesus when your circumstances refuse to cooperate.

You do not have to solve your entire life today.

    Just ask yourself one question:

Where are my eyes right now?

    Then look toward Jesus again.

  • Trusting God When Life Feels Heavy: The Bad Day You Shouldn’t Let Define You

Trusting God when life feels heavy doesn’t require you to pretend that everything is fine.

I actually think we do ourselves a disservice when we treat faith that way.

There are going to be days when you’re tired.

    Days when you’re disappointed.

Days when you pray and still don’t understand what God is doing.

And there may be nights when you sit quietly wondering whether you have enough strength to keep carrying everything you’re carrying.

    Jesus understands difficult days.

In this talk, I want to spend some time with one particular moment from Mark 4.

Jesus and His disciples were traveling across the Sea of Galilee when a storm became so severe that the disciples feared for their lives. They woke Jesus and questioned whether He cared that they were in danger.

That moment teaches us something deeply human about fear.

When circumstances become frightening enough, we can begin questioning things we believed before the storm arrived.

    We question ourselves.

    We question tomorrow.

    Sometimes we even question God.

But the storm did not mean Jesus had stopped caring.

And whatever you’re walking through right now does not give you enough information to declare your life hopeless.

This conversation is about learning to separate a difficult moment from the larger story God is still writing.

It’s about allowing yourself to say, “This hurts,” without adding, “Therefore, everything is hopeless.”

It’s about understanding that faith and struggle can occupy the same heart.

And it’s about waking up tomorrow willing to take one more step with Jesus.

If you’re emotionally exhausted, anxious about the future, spiritually tired, disappointed by something that happened, or simply having a really bad day, stay with me for this one.

You don’t need all the answers before you move forward.

Sometimes you simply need to remember who is in the boat with you.

  • When Someone Leaves You: Finding Peace in the Way Jesus Handled Rejection

When someone leaves you, the silence afterward can sometimes be harder than the goodbye itself.

You are left with questions they may never answer.

    Why did this happen?

    Could I have prevented it?

    Should I reach out again?

Was I not worth staying for?

Those questions can follow you into quiet moments, prayer, work, and even sleep.

In this episode, I want to look at something Jesus did that offers a different way forward.

Jesus knew what it was like for people to leave.

John 6 records disciples turning back and no longer following Him. Jesus did not respond by compromising His message or desperately trying to recover their approval.

    He let them choose.

That does not teach us to become indifferent toward relationships. Scripture gives us powerful reasons to forgive, reconcile, show mercy, and pursue peace.

But there is a limit to what one person can repair alone.

You are responsible for your words, choices, apologies, forgiveness, and conduct.

You are not responsible for controlling another person's heart.

That difference can change the way you carry rejection.

This conversation is for anyone who has been holding onto a relationship, friendship, disappointment, betrayal, or unanswered goodbye longer than they know how to carry it.

We are going to talk about letting go without becoming bitter, forgiving without losing wisdom, trusting God when you cannot control the outcome, and continuing forward when part of you still wants to look backward.

Jesus did not allow rejection to determine His identity or interrupt His purpose.

    Neither should we.

If your heart is tired, spend a few minutes with me.

Maybe the next step isn't getting somebody back.

Maybe it is putting them into God's hands.
