In His parable of the four soils, Jesus gets "Down & Dirty" into the nitty gritty of why we miss out on all that God has for us. Many times, our hard hearts rob us of all that God wants for us. The only way to heal a hard heart is humbly choosing to trust that God knows and wants what is best for you.
