Members Reviews:
You stupid Galatians! I told you exactly how Jesus Christ was nailed to a cross. Has someone now put an evil spell on you?
Paul seems intent on getting the Galatians attention in the first sentences of this letter. This is part 2 of 2 in Paul's letters in the American Bible Society series. The letters are read without abridgement and with some editorial content.
Either Paul got lazy with his later letters or they got lost somewhere along the way. Most of his good advice went to the Corinthians with the others having to make do. Sometimes we forget that Paul was the pillar of the church. He set Peter straight at least once and we are still not clear what happened to Timothy when he got sideways with Paul.
We also forget that the early church was at times wracked with political intrigue, competing doctrines, groundswells of half-truths and fables, and intense infighting. Paul rose above it all and told everyone what he had seen, heard, and felt. After his own conversion he was always forthright, intense, and clear in describing Jesus' life, our road to salvation, and how following rules, codes, and norms is desirable and lofty, but not the only calling and purpose.
