Publisher's Summary:
As a little girl tours and twirls through the halls of the art museum, she finds herself on an exciting adventure. Each piece of art evokes something new inside of her: silliness, curiosity, joy, and ultimately inspiration. When confronted with an empty white canvas, she is energized to create and express herself - which is the greatest feeling of all.
With exuberant illustrations by Peter H. Reynolds, The Museum playfully captures the many emotions experienced through the power of art, and each child's unique creative process.
Members Reviews:
Great story to begin to teach art appreciation
A wonderful story that introduces children to various artists and the wonders of their own imagination. Seems to be popular with the 3-year-old set as I've given it as a gift to twins and our own daughter, and it's frequently requested. The illustrations are whimsical and fun. As an art-history minor myself, I was pleased to see various styles of art referenced.
Inspiring Fond Memories
When I read Susan Verde's poems, and stared at Peter Reynolds's illustrations, I found myself back in a museum for the first time--awed, excited and awake to every kind of feeling and discovery. I hope Susan and Peter will write a series, and turn the clock back again and again, helping me and others recall the joy of the discovery of other locations and scenes. Although intended for children, The Museum will bring fond memories to many adults.
the joy of looking
As a museum educator, I find this book the sweetest, funniest and least didactic. The simple, energetic words get right to the heart of what looking at art is all about, for children and adults. I have read it to children and they have fun hearing the words and acting out Peter's lively drawings. Peter is a master at capturing movement and the joy of creation. YSP
Highly Recommend!
This is a fun book with beautiful illustrations. Reminds me of Peter Reynolds Creatriology series (Ish, The Dot, Sky Color) .. I love it!
Excellent gift for a youngster
Beautifully written and drawn. I gave it as a gift (after I'd read it). It encourages reading and drawing and understanding and dreaming.
