The Housekeeper's Proposal by Barbara Goss was a great read. Everyone is blaming Jeremy Walker for killing his wife Helen Walker. The sheriffs sister, Kate, decides to apply for the job of Jeremy's housekeeper. She wants to find him guilty but doesn't realize she will end up searching for the real killer. She neve suspects who really killed Helen. I absolutely loved reading this book. I can't wait to read more by Barbara Goss.

Clever who done it

As usual, Barbara Goss has written an impressive story that kept me enthralled to the very end. I just had to find out the who and the why of the murder but was kept guessing throughout.

There are so many twists and turns in this story and thank goodness they all come together to answer to your question, "who was the murderer?"

Of course there is a blossoming romance and I had to find out what would happen with that too.

I also enjoyed the narration by Roberto Scarlato and his voice acting is that good that one knows exactly which character is talking without having to think about it.

An audiobook version was provided by the author at no cost and this is my honest and unbiased review.

Lots of Good Drama

I got this ARC via audiobook boom. I enjoyed this story. Jeremy is a strong man and does what is right. He has good morals and is just what Kate needs. The entire story flows very well and shows mans flaws without being over dramatic. It also teaches the lesson of prayer. That is a powerful message. The sadness is overshadowed by the joy. The narration fit the story. He does each voice well and you can tell who is talking. Love this series and await the next book. I hope there are more than one more. There are lots of characters in the book who need their own story.

One of my favorites, I loved it! I loved the romance and that it was a clean romance novel! The suspense kept me on my toes the entire time and I never guessed the ending (which I usually do)I really loved this book!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I have to say that Jeremy and Kate are equally my favorites. Jeremy because he was so swoon worthy with his convictions and of course because he is so handsome :)

Which character as performed by Roberto Scarlato was your favorite?

Roberto did a wonderful job with all of the characters but again, my favorite would be his performance of Jeremy.

I loved the entire book - I can't give away my favorite part because it would spoil it.

This book was so enjoyable for me from start to finish. I LOVE romance novels and I struggle to find books in this genre that are not all about sex.

Shadow of Deceit

This is another wonderful book by Barbara Goss. I've had the opportunity now to enjoy several of her books and I can honestly say I haven't been disappointed at all. This book is another example of a good clean romance with some mystery. It's the kind of story that leaves you with a smile. Looking forward to more in this series.

Tom Jordan did a fabulous job narrating this book. He has the type of voice that is pleasing on the ears and works great in this type of genre.

Just wonderful

With Barbara Goss' stories I always take a moment to reflect at the end and see what lesson she was writing about.

In this book I think it is that the truth will out and when it does, it may hurt some people but it will probably do more good than not and also that it is preferable not to be conniving nor to lie. If you need help, then ask for it.

But these are my own thoughts and opinions on this story and yours may differ.

As usual Barbara has written a lovely story about two different, yet connected pairs of people who meet and fall in love. Their lives are interwoven and shadowed by the lies and deceit of a brother and sister. Only when these lies are brought to light and faced head-on can these two couples learn to trust again.

Tom Jordan has a 'voice' I for one could easily fall in love with. Jokes aside, it is a beautiful one and he uses it to the full to enhance this book. Just wonderful!

The story continues!

This book wastes no time right out of the gate, resuming where the previous book left off; convenient if one recently finished the first book as I had, but probably abrupt for those who took some time off in between. The result is a book that doesn't have the extra burden of character and plot introduction, or an introduction, which adds up to some weight loss and a run time of a hair over 3.5 hours.

In this book, I felt there was no wasted time, and the pace was just right. Once again, Tom delivers a great performance, and it seems that everything is even more settled into place.

Initially, in the story where the deception is in the open and quickly apparent to the listener/reader, I found myself disappointed and wasn't sure I would enjoy this book nearly as much as the first. I stuck through it, and things conveniently resolved themselves and led to a happy ending, as you'd expect. There wasn't nearly the length and depth of anguish for Caleb as there was for Jonas, and for me this may have taken away from the impact of the book.

Enjoyed the book

In talking to my daughter, she confided in me that she goes through a morning process after she reads a good book. She knows that she won't spend any more time with the characters and knows she will miss them. I thought about that and realized that I feel the same way! Recently, I have re-read some of my better kindle books and decided that I really enjoyed the few titles I had from this author. Finding this book, I bought it. I can totally say to all that the characters in this book were real and will be missed--totally will be a re-read in the future! I even learned some important info!!! Hopefully won't need it, but when I'm riding on an elevator, will remember!!!!! I won't ruin it for you--if your looking for a good book, this author won't disappoint you

Enjoyed reading this second book. Not a romance fan but liked the storyline and the characters. Roseanne did a great job developing them. Fun and quick to read.

sweet romance with a twist of danger

Love Comes Calling by Roseanne Wilkins is a sweet romance with a twist of danger. The writing is well done and you will find it a great entertainment for any time of the year, be it by the chimney or the swimming pool. I enjoyed the tale and the way it was told.

Love Comes Calling is clean and a wholesome tale of a thirty-something woman who is marked for death. Cassi, is in charge of her company's activities and events. She books an event with Thomas, her ex-fiancé, in Las Vegas and he wants her to sign some papers. Her flight is late and the hotel gives her room to someone else. So instead of going to hunt for a room somewhere else, she manages to steal the room from another woman who hasn't shown up yet, as it is 2:30 am. When she gets to the room, a knock comes to her door and two little girls need a bed for the night. Their aunt is drunk and she lets the girls crash in her bed. The next morning, their handsome widower father comes for them. That is how Cassi meets Jaron. Now that is just the beginning. From then on, a fall from a boat to the water, a broken elevator's cords, and exhaust poisoning are only a few of the adventures she has which Jaron helps her through.

The characters are sweet and caring, except for the killer and he who wants her killed. Some beautiful scenes in the Mormon Las Vega's temple and in surrounding areas are beautifully depicted in this tale. It has LDS morals and some of the church's view point on sin and God. Though it is not preachy, it doesn't hide the truth about the characters. You will find, good LDS people and bad ones. The chance for redemption and love is present in this book. Â

Fun and suspenseful

I really enjoyed it! It was one of those books I didn't want to put down but was easy to follow if I had to take a break (I had to sleep sometime!). Written so you didn't have to know much about the LDS church to understand what was going on in the story.

Fun read

This book is an easy read. It shows that God can turn anger into love.

Can't wait for more

It was a wonderful reinvention of the fairy tale of Beauty and the Beast. Can a scar turn us into a beast? Can our perception of ourselves prevent us from being happy? This could be true if Griffin had not had a fortuitous encounter with a thief, which not only brought him an unpleasant surprise in his own store but will be the key to finding his happiness. Sometimes a good action is rewarded and sometimes even if you believe that God has left you alone, in reality God is preparing you for something better, you only need the right person to help you find what you have lost, be it your faith, your trust or your own heart. I recived this book as an ARC and it enchant me so much that i decided to review it!!!

Wonderful Book With A Suggestion!

This was a great book. I only wish this author would take a chance and write longer stories. She clearly has the skill and creativity to write longer books. I loved this story and could have seen it continue. I do feel that the author gets to a point in the story and gets a little tired. Then she rushes the last bit. I have read a number of her books and this seems to be a pattern. I would have loved a longer and more complete epilogue. As many books as she produces this should be something she works on. I love reading her work so would love to see this happen.

Retelling of a classic

This was my first book by this author. I didn't know she was a Christian writer until I started reading the book. I truly enjoyed it. The retelling of the classic Beauty and the Beast with a western back drop was refreshing. Izzy was adorable and Griffin, the beast, was written well. You find yourself rooting for him. I will be recommending this author to my Christian book club members.I received this book as an ARC and voluntarily wrote this review.

Cute story!

What did you like best about this story?

If you forgot all the bad, would you still choose the good?

This was a clean and (non-preachy!) Christian book, with a wholesome story of faith, strength and forgiveness.

Although I wanted to hit Brock and sometimes Sarah on the head with a saucepan for being so obtuse at times, I really liked how the story turned out and how they overcame their difficulties. Love is faithfulness, giving, and... compromise! I just wish people wouldn't jump to conclusions like it happened in the story, but it also happens in real life.

As for Reagan Boss's narration, it was pleasant and fitting, I really enjoyed the soothing quality of her voice. I removed a star because - though I'm not sure whether this is a narration or an editing issue - I felt some sentences ran into others. At times a new scene/chapter started without any pause as an indication, so it irked me a little that some characters appeared to teleport or appear out of nowhere!

I asked the author for a free copy of the story in exchange for a review, and I was happily surprised! Barbara Gross writes stories that are usually shorter than others, but that's because she doesn't spend time on nonsense. It's very nice to start and finish a book in the same day, even though I miss the characters a little when it ends.

Definitely recommend!

Clean Romance with a Christian Message

When Sarah gave up her train ticket to Kansas to her best friend Elaina, she didn't know that God had a better plan for her. After being shunned by the members of her church for her mother's mistakes and dealing with an awful situation at home, she doesn't trust in God at all. Sarah exchanges letters with Brock from Hunter's Grove Kansas, and decides to make the trip to meet him. All she wants is a comfortable home she can make her own and a man to take care of and love.

When Brock starts writing to Sarah, he decides to hide his wealth and pretend to be a poor bank teller. He moves into an old farmhouse and only brings along one servant. He doesn't feel comfortable lying to Sarah but he wants to make sure she loves him for himself and not his money. He finds himself in love with Sarah before he knows it, but is shocked to find that she isn't a Christian. Before he can bring her to know God as he does, she's mistaken for Elaina and kidnapped by bank robbers.

The Christian message in this book is about being unequally yoked, and of course trusting in God. Sarah's doubts and struggles with God's plan and the hypocrisy of church members are real, and they are struggles many modern Christians have faced.

Another new author for me

Marisa Meyer is able to tell a story and make us feel the emotional pain her character's are in, that is a sign of a good writer. I found two or three editing error but they did not distract from the storyline. I hope to be able to read more of her novellas in the future. I hope you enjoy this short story that takes about thirty minutes to read.

Sorta, Kinda, Okayish

Very Short, very narrow plot, pretty bad editing. Hannah has a secret. Abel has a secret. They love each other but do not trust enough to share their secrets. Pretty straight-forward. I was surprised at her way of dealing with her pain. Did not expect that in this setting. Live and read and learn, I guess.

Could be two books, actually!

Everyone makes mistakes, but not all are ready to deal with their consequences. Silas wasn't ready, but he had to face his past and make things right before he could have a future.

This is a (non-preachy!) Christian, clean romance that I found so sweet! I could partly guess where the story was headed and what had actually happened, but I still found it great fun to follow the characters along. The story of Cassie and Silas was a good lesson on how to stay true to both your heart and what is right - and how to hold your ground when you see things are headed in the wrong direction.

This book can be divided into two archs, one about solving the past and one about solving the present. I found the second part - in particular what happened the day of the counseling - to be unnecessary. The second part of the book wasn't bad by any means, but I think the book would have been able to stand on its own without the added drama. I loved the first part of the book and was a little disappointed by what happened when things started getting back on track - it might have been because I'd finished Mail Order Compromise recently, and seeing a similar event wasn't as impactful.

Garrett Whitehead has a very pleasant voice and clear narration. I had listened to other books from the same author that had been narrated by the same female (Reagan Boggs) and even though she is very talented, it was a nice surprise to listen to the story being told by an equally talented male narrator. Will definitely look forward to listening more from him in the future! I removed a star because - though I'm not sure whether this is a narration or an editing issue - I felt some sentences ran into others. This was a sweet story but it ended too quickly. Once again I am left to imagine what happens between the love interest. These books seem to be a glimpse into a life rather than the entire story. I liked this one better than the others I have read thus far.

Amish surprise.

Good book, sad but good. Family time is so important. I am glad they had it each time. Hope to read more.

I wanted more

A sweet story about the worst time. When a loved one dies it's hard. Two sister totally different but attracted to the same man. Who will win his heart?

From meeting to marriage

Relationships take time. These two went from meeting to holding hands in the same hour. This is too short a story to develop a relationship.

Would not recommend this book !

I apologize to the author,but I can't give this book even 1star. First I do not think she is aware of Amish speech and ways of life. She doesn't have the correct name calling of the parents and the language was strictly 'English' not Amish! We live within an hour of an Amish community and one of my daughter-in-laws was born Amish so many of her family members are still of the sect. No true Amish girl is going to meet an 'Englishler' and immediately fall in love with and plan a life with him. Also, I doubt any Amish girl would be running her Fathers business. At the beginning of the book there were a lot of errors in the wording (extra words put in) , but I would imagine that was the typist of the book in the Kindle, not the authors. I was so surprised how short the book was. I feel I didn't get my worth of having it as my Prme book of the month to read. I would strongly suggest more investigation put into studying the Amish before the author writes anymore of them! I'm sorry for my review, but I needed to be honest on my thoughts.
