    Editorial Reviews:
The Monkey's Paw and Other Stories brings together a collection of spooky stories, over a century old, from such enduring writers like Robert Louis Stevenson, Sarah Orne Jewett, and Kate Chopin.
The title story by W.W. Jacobs is about a cursed monkeys paw from India that grants wishes that come with terrible twists. In this performance, a cast of actors perform various roles resulting in a cross between a radio play and an audiobook. The same treatment is applied to other stories, including Mary Shelleys "Mortal Immortal", in which a man drinks a potion that grants him immortality.
The stories in this collection make for perfect listening for fans of horror writing interested in the roots of the genre.
    Critic Reviews:
"This eclectic group of dramatized stories vary greatly in style and plot, but all deal with essential human ingredients of the human condition as honor, greed, individual worth, the desire for immortality, and luck. Included are one of the best horror stories ever written, 'The Monkey's Paw', as well as fascinating stories by Robert Louis Stevenson, Mary Shelley, Mary E. Wilkins Freeman, Sarah Orne Jewett, and Kate Chopin." (Booklist)

    A must-read collection
Jacobs has an engaging, even riveting, writing style that keeps you on the edge of your chair. These stories give a very interesting perspective on the way that the human mind behaves when afraid. the introduction of this collection is very helpful in understanding the way that Jacobs writes, and the context of many of his stories. I would definitely purchase and read again.
A valuable collector's edition to horror classic fans
What else can one say? This is one of the great classics of horror---has all the macabre stories by a man known more for his humorous stories, but Jacobs was also a top-notch horror writer. This should be in every horror reader's collection.

    It's a Wonderful Andy
The world lost multi-talented Andy Williams when he passed away on
Sep 25, 2012. Luckily, we still have recordings of his voice. On most
of them he is singing, but on this CD it is his speaking voice we hear.
The warmth and charm of the man is evident in his reading of this short
story (by Philip Van Doren Stern ) on which the movie "It's A Wonderful Life"
was based. A suicidal man comes to appreciate his life when he meets a
strange little man on Christmas Eve. Delightful.

"We must all hang together," Benjamin Franklin is reported to have said to his revolutionary peers, "or we will assuredly all hang separately." This is a sentiment that's even more appropriate, and more urgent, when you're lost between the stars in a crippled and out-of-control ship, your shipmates aren't talking to each other (and haven't for thousands of years), and you don't really exist in the first place. Such is the case in Sean Williams' Evermore. This story was chosen for inclusion in the Seventeenth Annual Collection of The Year's Best Science Fiction.

    Good Short SCI-FI
A nice expoloration of what AI modeled after real people would be like, right down to the egos. All too human reactions and feelings are part of a program. This short works on several different levels.
    Ever On Thought
Excellent concept. Fascinating - thought provoking. Intriguing. Reader was a little flat for my taste, but that may have been the point. Recommend for anyone interested in the ethos of AI.

    Great stories...awful audio
I first owned this title several years ago on cassette. I loved listening to it every holiday season, but no longer had a cassette player in my car. I was thrilled to find it on Audible.com and immediately downloaded it. Unfortunately, the beautifully written and read stories suffer from the terrible audio quality. The voices of the readers, among them...Linda Purl, Efram Zimbalist, Jamie Farr and the wonderful singer Melissa Manchester, sound muffled and murky, really distracting from what should be a fun listening experience.
    Sound awful
The sound on this recording is almost not audible.
I am currently trying to get some help to either redownload or receive a credit..Would not recommend.

A 2012 International Thriller Awards Finalist!
From a "master of suspense" (Library Journal) and writer of "heart-whamming" fiction (Publishers Weekly) comes an all new suspense collection by James Scott Bell.
In the full-length novella One More Lie, high-flying divorce attorney Andrew Chamberlain is on top of the legal world. He buys his suits in Beverly Hills and wins his cases in court. But one day he's approached by a friend to handle the split with his wife. That's the day things start to go very wrong for Andrew Chamberlain...up to and including murder.
One More Lie was a finalist for a 2012 ITW Award.
PLUS three stories full of the suspense twists James Scott Bell is known for:
"A Great Man" - The Reverend Mike Rickland was not expecting one of New Jersey's most notorious mobsters to pay him a visit. All Angelo Scapelli wanted was to offer Mike's church ten million dollars. On one condition.
"Some Hero" - Garth Himmelfarb, middle aged and paunchy, was only trying to work off a few pounds by jogging in his neighborhood. He didn't expect to help a woman in distress - a beautiful woman; a woman he could be a hero for. He didn't expect to step into a situation that could get him beaten up or killed. But he did.
"How to Make Living as a Freelance Writer" - A struggling author, once popular, now on the way out, comes up with a last attempt to make enough money to live on as a writer...and actually finds it. Let's just say it's not the "traditional" route.
James Scott Bell is the number-one best-selling author of Plot & Structure (Writer's Digest Books) and numerous novels and stories of suspense. Among these are Watch Your Back and Try Dying. Writing as K. Bennett he is also the author of the zombie legal thriller Pay Me in Flesh.

    One more lie
What did you like best about this story?
A fast paced story with a surprise ending. There's a lot of action and will keep you listening to the audiobook. I'm looking forward to reading more of this authors work.
    More Sin Than The Bible!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! Each of these four yarns captured my attention immediately! Bell's characters (who's motivations tipped toward the Breaking Bad and Sopranos variety) were fashioned in such fine detail that I almost felt I could slip into their skin - and that, I believe, was the idea ... the seduction of ... just ONE more ...
Who was your favorite character and why?
All of the characters were fascinating, but the lawyer in the first story - probably because he was the most authentic - thoroughly captured my imagination.
Which character as performed by Basil Sands was your favorite?
Basil Sands voiced all the characters to perfection ... the lawyer, the mob boss, the old dame with the pup, but if I had to pick one it would be the hispanic woman running from her abusive husband - it will tear your heart out in more ways than one.
If you could rename One More Lie, what would you call it?
Morality Tales for the 21st Century
    very entertaining!
I really enjoyed the first novella but I wanted so much more, he sets you up to discover who is involved but I felt like there wasn't enough of a conclusion for me. I wanted all the pieces to fit together. it's like having a puzzle and your not able to finish because your missing a few pieces.

    Editorial Reviews:
An American classic, Melville Davisson Post's Uncle Abner mysteries see a modern retelling in this powerful performance from Walter Covell. Covell's deep, resonant voice adds extra drama to these tales of justice-wielding Virginia backwoodsman Uncle Abner. Set in the early 19th century before the foundation of the American police system, Abner takes justice into his own hands, with the help of an inborn knowledge of human psychology and a sense of ethics taken from the Bible. Including stories like "The Wrong Hand", "The Treasure Hunter", and "A Twilight Adventure", this collection is a compelling listening for anyone who loves first-rate mystery.

    Not as good as expected
Having read reviews of this book, I have to admit to being more than a little disappointed. No way can these writings be compared to Doyle or Sayers.

True Adventurist Stories, Readers Will Most Definitely Enjoy.
How could a Bay called The Chesapeake in the Atlantic Ocean, which has other rivers and islands on it (i.e. Solomon's Island/Town) or branching near the Patuxent River, Pax River, Breezy Point and Lexington Park (some being freshwater areas), make for interesting reading? These sailing areas, towns plus highly popular eateries and seafood markets make for an interesting read indeed - especially to people who arenât necessarily history buffs! This compilation by Ken Rossignol, taken from select articles published by a variety of writers, over several decades (to include some stories of historic antiquity), found in "The Chesapeake Bay Magazine", gives the reader many very enjoyable stories. Many of the stories are obviously fishing adventures but each has a twist, a revelation or just flat-out interesting facts attached to them. I'm a fisherman myself - although I fish for freshwater species. I would however, go for saltwater beauties, I just haven't had the chance to do so as yet! I have fished for crab in The Gulf of Mexico however; that was the closest I have come to saltwater fishing.
