Flawless

It's one of those books that you need to keep repeating over and over. It has lots of details and information.

An Excellent and Enlightening Audiobook

This was a fascinating as well as comprehensive Bible lineage. Nothing is left out. It begins with the stone, clay, leather, and papyrus that the words were originally written on to what was used to write with and who was writing it all the way to how we've gotten to the most popular Bible(s) KJV and NIV to date. This was an impressive piece of work written by the late Dr. Neil R. Lightfoot.

I listened to this book slowly as it was a lot to absorb with many details. Ancient texts were called codex or codices and were the first bound books. Early ones consisted of letters, narratives, and etc. This book talks about the languages which were Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. The three oldest manuscripts in the world are the Vatican, the Sinaiticus, and the Alexandrian. There's also the Psoriatic, the Coptic, and the Latin.

This book also talks about Ben Asher, William Tyndale as well as other important figures. This is a very comprehensive book and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in ancient text or the Bible. This is a study guide as well and one can skip around to different parts. I'm amazed at how much of this I retained. Loved it.

Claton Butcher's performance was outstanding. He made this an amazing listen. His voice inflections and cadence were so much in tune with the book that he made it easy to follow and understand. His pronunciations were/are impeccable. I'm a huge fan of his work.

History of the Bible

Interesting. If you like history, and you want to know how the Bible made it thru the centuries, you will find this a good retelling of it.

Wealth of information!

Loved this book. Gives such great information on how we received the Bibles we have now. Narrator does a great job as well. Book flows well and is a pleasure to listen to.

Great introduction to biblical studies

The books could also be aptly named "A overview of Biblical Scholarship." To be sure, this isn't a work on theology. Rather it's about the book, its origins and transmission.

I particularly like the fact that author is open about his Protestant bias and does a fantastic job of keeping information separate from opinion. I can trust an author who's honest about his bias more than an author who blends opinion into his/her facts.

The contents of this book are required reading for any person with an interest in the Bible, Christian or otherwise. Because this book is not itself a source of scholarship but rather a compilation of it, the information here can technically be found elsewhere. However, one would be hard-pressed to find it in such a clear, concise, direct and organized way.

Biblical response to many contemporary trends

Albert Mohler masterfully responds to many important issues facing the church in the west especially same sex marriage and the general acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle. He uses sound, Scriptural theology combined with solid reasoning. My only complaint is that he did not do the audio recording himself!

Lots of historical information

The historical information and the chapter on tough questions makes this book very valuable. He also confronts theological liberals' attempts to re-interpret the Bible in order to make it say the exact opposite of what it means. I did not agree with his statist position on marriage. I believe in the separation of marriage and state. The statist position is a money stealing scam for marriage "license" offices and to rob single people of government benefits since spouses of government employees usually get benefits while deceased single individuals (who payed the same taxes) are robbed of benefit transfers to another adult.

Crucial logic for committed Christians

Recommended reading for Christian colleges/schools/homeschools. Solid, historical/logical/legal arguments for defending Biblical and Constitutional truth w/humilty.

If you could sum up We Cannot Be Silent in three words, what would they be?

Well balanced without being compromising. Some books on this topic would specialize in "its one minute to midnight" hype. This book does not.

Good but missed on some crucial points.

Al Mohler is solid but swings and misses on a couple things. For example he says that sexual orientation can be a sin for a heterosexual person. Although I think he was trying to make a broader point in relationship to homosexual sin, I think he missed the mark by stating and using the terminology sexual orientation.

Wow a great book

I really enjoyed this book. I have a series of his books and they are all excellent.

Fantastic Introduction to the Christian Faith

Whether you are a "seeker", a new Christian, or a seasoned believer this book is for you; it doesn't just lay out the systematic truths of the faith but shows that Christians are part of a larger story. This story includes Drama (the unfolding of God's story through history), Doctrine (the truths that are drawn from this story), doxology (the worship that arises from the story) and discipleship (the result of this worship). Horton does an excellent job of showing the covenantal structure of God's drama. Whether you are a dispensationalist, covenantalist or progressive covenantalist I believe you will benefit from his treatment. Christianity is first and foremost about Jesus and Horton ably shows us why this is the best news we could ever hear.

Probably a very good book.

I think there's some good stuff in this book, but for some reason I had a very difficult time following the reader. He tried more than some readers, but I guess his voice was so smooth that I just slid right off.

Motivating, thorough, and informative

This book helped me to make sense of history and the Old Testament scriptures and how they relate in prayer. I really enjoyed the helpful tips for what/how to pray during a fast to be most effective as an intercessor. Thank you for sharing your understanding with the greater body of Christ through this book!

this book set my heart on fire

I am overwhelmed with the vision of God for my life and for the people's lives around me. I'm fasting for this generation to see and to know the goodness of God. my youth church will see signs and wonders. the adults in our church will want to come into the youth church to take part in the signs and wonders. I'm so excited and so invigorating that God is going to do Mighty things in this next year of 2018.

This book grabbed me from the misconceptions and bad attitude I had about being an excellent wife. I had a bitter attitude and a godless perception on how a wife should should care for her husband. This book has created a spark for me to change the bitterness and unforgiving heart and become a better wife and woman. This book was a blessing from God. I didn't get answers from this book, instead I got a new perception.

Absolutely - I'm listening to it for the fourth time this month.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Women Living Well?

I appreciate all the great info; especially the stories of Courtney's own experience. The challenges and scripture throughout the book have put a little fire under my seat.

What about Dara Rosenbergs performance did you like?

She is SO pleasant to listen to, and enunciates so clearly that I can speed up the book to 1.45x and still understand clearly. With four children I don't have much choice but to listen quickly during chores!!

Some mispronunciation, but the book is the best.

The Death of Death in the Death of Christ is perhaps my favorite uninspired book and I believe is still the best book out there on particular redemption.

The narration could have used some editing on this audiobook, to avoid such mistakes as "Galileans" instead of "Galatians." But the narrator's handling of 400+ year old theological terms did improve over the course of the book. Don't let this stop you from downloading it; there aren't many great Christian books on Audible concerning the true gospel of accomplished salvation in Christ, but this is one of the best.

A Habit of Growth

This book is well written and a good listen. Although I just finished it, I look forward to starting over this afternoon. if you want to be more Chirst like, then 7 habits will help.

I Like It

Its short, sweet and two the point.

However, I find the reader a little dry and hard to understand in spots. Also, in Chapter 5 there is some overlapping that makes it a little difficult to follow.

Life changing

Simple short book that has brought positive structure to my life. I listen to it a few times a month while walking the dog- keeps me walking for at least an hour as I always rewind certain sections as God teaches me to be more effective.
