This is a legit way of hacking. I condone those hacking guides that tend only to harm the majority. This is one of the cleanest on the subject. Lots of basic skills, more than just hacking, that will be improved.

It is good to know more and leverage your computer skills. My database and networking was not great but this is a good start to hone my skills.

The book is bullet-ed, which is great to remove lots of clutter in discussion. I suggest that the author should put more visual so readers can better understand the concept.

After reading this book, I would recommend readers to read more hacking techniques on advanced books.

Be a hacker by knowing all these essential things.

The information in this book is not a clear cut doorway to hacking, it merely sets the footprints that you can follow and hopefully divert away creating your own footsteps as a hacker. This read helped me to know & learn all the very basic fundamentals and ideology behind hacking.

Without getting too technologically philosophical, let's move onto ways in which you can gain knowledge in a fun and effective way. As far I can say, this book contains proven steps and strategies on how to master the basics of computer hacking. Have you always wanted to hack? excellent book

Excellent book! This book gives great examples, explaining concepts that I have had difficulty understanding. It is a very interesting and informative read, as well as being easy to understand, and I fully intend to order another copy for my parents. I would definitely recommend reading this book if you are curious at all about cyber security.

Useless book

This is an useless book and so elementary. What are described are all common knowledges. It's more like coping and compiling terms from some computer dictionaries. The author can't cite anything specific. He even can't name a virus. I don't know why some people give it a 5-star. If you are a caveman and never heard of computer, this is for you. Read it and you can join some bar talk.

I deleted the book from my library. It doesn't worth the memory space it took.

No wonder it's a free book.

Informative!

For the lay person, this was an easy to read and interesting look at Cyber Security. The author's recommendations for a more secure computing environment are well taken, and his/her experience makes him/her an excellent source. As a short, interesting, but information rich introduction to this subject, I highly recommend this book.

good book, questionable voice read.

The book itself is pretty good, but the guy reading it obviously has no idea what he's talking about. Delivery is extremely jarring, many technical words are completely incorrect (eg it's C sharp, not C pound, and GNU is pronounced as one syllable). Also PLEASE learn how to edit voice over. Every breath is cut, which is ok, but no timing has been changed and there are NO FADES so every single word has an audible pop. basically unlistenable

Must-Have for EMF Obsessives

In the same vein as the books Dirty Electricity and Robert O. Becker's classic, The Body Electric, this book explores the health dangers of electromagnetic fields (EMF) and artificial blue light. In The Dark points to a lot of Russian studies on EMF that I was unaware of (and I've read pretty much everything on the subject) and offers some technological solutions, namely BlueShield - an EMF scrambler, of sorts, which the author's company sells - and The Quantlet, a wearable (but not EMF-emitting) light therapy device. I have not tried either of these products yet, so cannot vouch for their effectiveness. If you're obsessed with EMF's, as I am, this book is a must have. So, why did I give it only 4 stars? Because the publisher limits the number of highlights you can make to the e-text, which really stinks if you're trying to use this book for research purposes and citations. When you try to print up your highlights, you get an error message if you have more than 20 highlighted passages. Fortunately, there are ways to get around this if you've bought the book (rather than just borrowing it), using free software called Calibre. Not sure how legal this technically is, but, hey, if you've paid money to buy the book, I think you should be able to highlight as many notes as you want. I find the publisher's restriction very annoying, not to mention counter-productive to citing this book in other research.

This Is an Extremely Important Book!

I think most of us have sensed that all of these microwave transmissions that now exist in our living and working environments must be causing us some kind of harm, and this book gets into this in great detail. Cell phones, laptops, tablets, cordless phones, wireless printers and anything that emits these kind of frequencies can be causing us harm, and this subject will soon become mainstream here in the U.S. It already is mainstream in Europe and in Australia, and this will be happening here in the U.S., too.

It's incredibly unlikely anything ever gets 100% 5 star ratings, even if only from 20+ reviews. The grammar of each these reviews is terrible in almost the exact same way. Some reviews even repeat the same exact abstract statements such as "depletes the ignorance of MS excel". What does that even mean? My one star review is to eliminate the illusion that everyone who supposedly bought this book found it worthy of 5 stars. It may be a good book, but you wouldn't know from these reviews.

Useless. Don't buy.

Either I was deluded on what the book would be about, or the author was clueless about who his likely audience would be. I bought the book to learn about bitcoin, how it is created and the whole process. Instead, I got a book about general street tips for online trading. One could substitute bitcoin here with anything like shares, bonds, commodities and the book will still relate. True, the author does talk about bitcoin every now and then but that may be because he might have felt compulsed by the title of his book which contains the word bitcoin. If you wish to know about bitcoin, please look somewhere else. If you wish to learn about online trading, there would be any number of dedicated books on the subject....so again, look somewhere else.

Interesting topic.

A very thorough book. The author took the time to explain in detail the terminologies behind cryptocurrency technology - blockchain, and the differences between each currency. The highlight for me was the author going through the mindset of investing since cryptocurrencies are very volatile at this moment. Going to start dipping my toes into investing in some ether.
