(It's finally airing now as of February 9th.) We discuss the politics behind Snowdrop's depiction of the transition to democracy from an authoritarian government.

In this first podcast of the year, I speak again with Jeanie Chang, therapist, podcaster and Kdrama aficionado. We discuss how she incorporates Korean dramas into her practice as a therapist, literally prescribing shows and episodes to fight depression, anxiety, and family conflict. We talk about My Mister, Mr. Sunshine, and A LOT about Reply 1988,  which I had just finished watching. We have a Korean-Nigerian connection and plot to take over the world.

Dr. Grace Jung does all of the things. She's a professional comedian, poet, filmmaker,  and so much more. She wrote her PhD dissertation in Cinema and Media Studies at UCLA about Korean media and is in the process of turning it into a book. This is part 2 of my discussion with Tamara Walker, Associate Professor of History at the University of Toronto. We discuss her trajectory of becoming a historian and doing research in Argentina and Peru as a Black woman. I'm wearing a bonnet because they need more love and so do Black women. We discuss how Peruvian enslavers forced their slaves to wear nice clothes, defying sumptuary laws in colonial Peru while preventing free Blacks from doing the same.
