  • 184. The Dr. Danielle Difference: The Last Three Years, the Hard Truths, and What Comes Next

“Your greatest strength is how you love your people well, but it’s also your biggest weakness.” Someone said that to me, and I held every tear in while he was speaking. I knew exactly what he meant.

I love my people. My family. My team. My clients. My community. But I have to tell you the truth about what happens when that love gets tangled up with fear and the belief that I have to keep holding everything together.

Welcome to The Dr. Danielle Difference.

If you’ve been here since Crying in My Cheesecake, welcome back. If you’re new, you’re coming in at a really interesting time. In this relaunch episode, I’m taking you through the last three years: a professional relationship I was afraid to leave, the consequences of staying, the burnout I couldn’t keep pushing through, and a week of conversations with God and people that brought things into focus.

I’m also telling you where we’re going. Food, movement, symptoms, health questions, scripture, stewardship, obedience, and actually living out what we’re learning. You’re going to get me—how I talk, how I think, and what I believe.

    In this episode
    • Why I stayed in a professional relationship that wasn’t working, even when my team could see it.
    • The impact on my family, my business, and the people already in my care.
    • Loving people well without taking responsibility for everything I can see.
    • What I mean when I discuss Jezebel and Ahab patterns, and why I have to examine my own part.
    • Holy agitation, exhaustion, early morning prayer, and learning to receive peace.
    • My burden for real discipleship and how we treat students with hard questions.
    • Why taking care of myself includes prayer, food, exercise, doctor’s visits, and admitting when I need help.
    • What to expect from the podcast each month.

What you can expect each month
    1. Week one: The conversations from Wilderness of Wellness I want to take further—the things we didn’t get to or didn’t have time for.
    2. Week two: The health questions people are asking, searching for, and bringing into our community.
    3. Week three: Faith, discipleship, scripture, stewardship, obedience, and the hard questions about following Jesus in this world.
    4. Week four: Ways to put what we’re discussing into practice with support, including invitations into our work and occasional useful guest conversations.

One episode a week is what you can plan on, with room for something I need to get on the microphone and say in between.

    Scripture discussed
    • 1 Kings 21
    • Revelation 2, particularly the passage concerning Jezebel
    • Ephesians 6:12 and the surrounding discussion of the armor of God
    • 1 Thessalonians 5, concerning testing what we hear and holding onto what is good
    • Mark 6:31

    Take your next step

Share this episode with someone who needs it. The woman who keeps saying she’s so tired. The person who has tried everything and still doesn’t know where to go. Someone who wants to take their health seriously and follow Jesus with their actual life.

  • CIMC 183: Why I Care So Much About Your Cholesterol

Have you ever waited until a lab result scared you before deciding it was finally time to pay attention to your health?

That approach is exactly what I want to challenge today.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death, yet most people don't think about their heart until cholesterol numbers rise or someone they love experiences a health crisis. Fear may get your attention, but stewardship creates lasting transformation.

In this episode, I'm sharing why cholesterol has become such a personal mission for me, how a week filled with disappointment reminded me that stress affects far more than emotions, and why cholesterol is only one piece of a much bigger conversation. We'll talk about the connection between stress, blood sugar, inflammation, hormones, sleep, and the everyday habits that quietly shape your future long before disease ever develops.

We'll also explore why root-cause medicine asks different questions than conventional healthcare, why prevention should begin long before symptoms become overwhelming, and how living in community makes it easier to stay faithful to the work of caring for the body God entrusted to you.

Health isn't simply about lowering a number on a lab report, it's about becoming a faithful steward of the life you've been given.

If you've ever wondered whether there's a better way than waiting until something goes wrong, this conversation is for you.

  • CIMC 182: Why Your Cholesterol Numbers Don't Tell the Whole Story

Have you ever opened your lab results, spotted a few red flags, and immediately felt your stomach drop?

Fear has a way of turning numbers into identity. One abnormal result can leave you questioning everything, even when those numbers only tell a small part of the story.

In this episode, I share why I never look at total cholesterol in isolation and why real health is about understanding patterns instead of chasing one lab value after another. Lab work is meant to be a tool for stewardship, not a source of shame or panic.

Together, we'll explore what cholesterol is actually communicating, why symptoms are messages instead of inconveniences, and how asking better questions leads to better decisions about your health. I also opens up about my family's history with heart disease, the experiences that shaped my approach to functional medicine, and why I'm committed to helping people understand their bodies instead of simply managing diagnoses.

If you've ever felt overwhelmed by lab reports, confused by conflicting health advice, or exhausted trying to figure out what actually matters, this conversation will help you replace fear with clarity and confidence.

Real healing begins when we stop chasing numbers and start understanding the story our bodies are telling.

  • CIMC 181: Why Community Changes Everything: The Missing Piece in Your Health Journey

Everyone wants better health, yet more information isn't always the answer.

Health has never been more accessible. We have podcasts, books, social media, YouTube, AI, and endless Google searches have placed information at our fingertips. Even with all of those resources, you may still feel stuck because information alone doesn't create transformation.

In this episode, I want to pull back the curtain on why I created the Wilderness of Wellness and why we've moved our community to Substack. This isn't simply about changing platforms. It's about creating a place where women can stop trying to figure everything out on their own and begin healing alongside people who truly understand the journey.

We'll talk about why community matters, why accountability is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, and why personalized coaching can never be replaced by technology. AI has incredible value as a tool, yet it will never replace real relationships, shared experiences, biblical encouragement, or wise guidance from people who know your story.

Healing was never meant to happen in isolation.

If you've been trying to carry your health journey by yourself, this conversation may be exactly what you need to take the next faithful step.

  • CIMC 180: Knowing What To Do First Is The Hard Part

Heart health has become one of the most fear-filled conversations in healthcare. One elevated lab value can leave you wondering if you're headed toward the same future as everyone else in your family. Before panic takes over, let's slow down and ask a better question.

What if high cholesterol isn't the real problem?

In this episode, I'm continuing our Heart Health series by helping you look beyond the numbers on your lab report. Cholesterol is often treated like the enemy, yet it has an essential role in protecting and repairing the body. Instead of focusing only on lowering cholesterol, we're exploring why your body may be raising it in the first place.

We'll talk about why lab work is information—not identity—how inflammation, blood sugar, stress, sleep, and lifestyle all influence heart health, and why treating the root cause produces a completely different outcome than simply chasing normal lab values.

We'll also discuss why fear has no place in stewarding the body God entrusted to us, how asking better questions leads to better healing, and why transformation happens when education is paired with community.

If you've ever felt discouraged by your lab work or overwhelmed by conflicting health advice, this conversation will help you see your body through an entirely new lens.

  • CIMC 179: We've Been Asking the Wrong Question About Cholesterol

Heart health has become one of the most fear-driven topics in modern medicine. One lab value comes back flagged, and suddenly it feels like a countdown has begun. Many women leave their appointments wondering if they should immediately start medication, completely overhaul their diet, or accept that heart disease is simply part of their family history.

That isn't the conversation I want us to have.

In this episode, we're taking a completely different approach to cholesterol by asking a question that often gets overlooked: Why is your body raising cholesterol in the first place?

Cholesterol isn't simply something to lower. It serves essential functions throughout the body, supporting hormones, brain health, vitamin D production, cell repair, and every single cell membrane. Understanding its purpose changes the way we approach heart health and shifts our focus toward identifying what the body is responding to instead of simply chasing numbers on a lab report.

We'll also talk about stewardship, fear-based health decisions, why perfection isn't the goal, and how building strong foundations creates lasting health that extends far beyond cholesterol.

If you've ever felt overwhelmed by conflicting advice or discouraged by lab results, this episode will help you see your body through an entirely different lens.

Health isn't about living in fear. It's about faithfully stewarding the body God entrusted to you.

  • CIMC 178: Hormone Symptoms Are Not the Root of The Problem

What if the hormone symptoms you’re fighting aren’t actually the root problem?

In this honest conversation, I sit down with Rachel to unpack one of the biggest mistakes women make when it comes to hormone health: focusing on the hormones while ignoring the foundations that support them.

Heavy periods, painful cycles, anxiety, poor sleep, mood swings, low energy, headaches, digestive issues, and feeling constantly overwhelmed often get labeled as “hormone problems.” Many times, those symptoms are signals pointing toward deeper issues that have been building for months.

We talk about the connection between stress, digestion, blood sugar balance, hydration, sleep, and hormone function. I also share a personal story about how a stressful event affected my cycle months later and why symptoms are often the result of what happened long before they appeared.

This episode is a reminder that healing is rarely found in the latest supplement, hormone cream, or wellness trend. Real transformation starts with the foundations.

If life has felt harder than it should, energy is low, emotions feel unpredictable, and health goals seem out of reach, this conversation will help you see hormone health through a completely different lens.

    In This Episode:

    • Why hormone symptoms often start months before they appear
    • Common signs of hormone dysfunction beyond your menstrual cycle
    • The connection between stress and hormone health
    • Why digestion matters more than most women realize
    • How hydration impacts energy, hormones, and overall health
    • The role of blood sugar balance in hormone regulation
    • Why foundational habits create lasting change
    • How community and accountability support long-term wellness

  • CIMC 177: Hormones Aren't the Problem: The Truth About The Root Cause of Your Symptoms

Hormones have become one of the most over-marketed topics in women's health, and it's leaving far too many women frustrated, confused, and stuck chasing quick fixes that never address the real problem.

In this episode, I'm breaking down why focusing only on your hormones may actually be keeping you from getting the results you're looking for.

Hormones are messengers, they don't create problems out of nowhere but they do respond to what's happening throughout the rest of your body. If your liver, kidneys, colon, brain, lungs, or other foundational systems are struggling, your hormones will reflect it.

That means the acne, migraines, fatigue, cravings, mood swings, irregular cycles, and frustrating symptoms so many women experience aren't solved by another supplement, hormone hack, or trendy protocol.

    We're talking about:

    • Why hormone-focused marketing is misleading women
    • The difference between reproductive hormones and the rest of your hormonal system
    • Why symptoms often show up months after the real problem begins
    • The connection between organ function and hormone balance
    • Why testing isn't always the first answer
    • The foundational approach I use to help women create lasting change
    • What most practitioners are missing when they focus only on lab results

If you've been chasing hormone solutions and still don't feel like yourself, this conversation will help you understand what's really happening beneath the surface and where to focus your energy moving forward.

  • CIMC 176: The Hidden Health Impact of Singleness: Stress, Independence, and Carrying Life Alone

In this candid conversation, I sit down with our newest clinician, Rachel Sanger, to talk about a topic that doesn't get nearly enough attention: the physical, emotional, and metabolic toll of singleness.

Rachel shares her personal health journey, what it was like navigating corporate life while living alone, and the moment she realized something had to change. Together, we unpack the invisible stress single women carry every day—from managing a household alone to making every decision, planning every meal, carrying financial responsibility, and constantly thinking about the future.

This isn't just a conversation about relationships. It's a conversation about nervous system load, blood sugar, cholesterol, anxiety, exhaustion, loneliness, and what happens when life feels like it's all resting on your shoulders.

We also talk about why traditional health advice often misses the reality of single women, how stress shows up physically in the body, and why finding practical solutions that fit real life matters.

If you've ever felt like you're carrying the entire weight of your life by yourself, this episode is for you.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • The hidden health challenges single women face
    • Why independence can become exhausting
    • The connection between chronic stress, blood sugar, and cholesterol
    • Living alone and the impact on daily health habits
    • Anxiety, sleep struggles, and future-focused stress
    • Corporate burnout and health decline
    • Why personalized support matters
    • How Rachel helps clients build realistic health habits that work

Whether you've been single for years, recently experienced a major life transition, or simply feel like you're carrying too much on your own, this conversation will help you feel seen and supported.

  • CIMC 175: The Conversation Most Women Need to Hear

What if the symptoms you've been fighting are actually messages you've been ignoring?

In this episode, I'm challenging one of the most common beliefs I hear from women every single day: "Something must be wrong with me."

You're dealing with weight gain, brain fog, cravings, fatigue, hormonal chaos, and digestive issues. Most women have been taught to see these symptoms as evidence that their body is failing them but I'm going to offer completely different perspective.

Drawing from real patient stories, years of clinical experience, and a faith-based approach to health, I'll explain why symptoms are often signals that the body has been compensating for deeper imbalances for far longer than most people realize.

    This conversation dives into:

    • Why symptoms are information, not enemies
    • The difference between chasing symptoms and understanding systems
    • How blood sugar impacts nearly every aspect of health
    • Why foundational health matters more than the latest biohack
    • The role of stewardship in creating lasting transformation
    • How to stop living at war with your body and start working with it

Healing doesn't begin with another supplement, another protocol, or another complicated health trend, it begins when you learn to listen.

If you've been exhausted from trying harder and getting nowhere, this episode will help you shift from frustration to understanding and from fear to faithful stewardship.Your body isn't broken, it's simply trying to tell you something you've been too busy to hear.
