The arts in education are paramount for student success. Over the summer, I had the chance to guest host for an hour at the legendary WBGO studios in Newark, New Jersey. WBGO was a staple for me since the 6th grade and is currently one of the most recognized jazz stations in the world. In this episode, I speak about how music education helps so many students. I also speak about how it has and continues to help me.

This is my first podcast in a while. I'm going to try a new format and a new program to record/edit. This will either be awesome or will be a trainwreck... but hey... that's how we learn. I'll be speaking about my time in North Dakota, my time in NJ, and my time around the country. Onward.
Harassment, intimidation, and bullying have been around since the beginning of time, but how it is occurring in our schools continues to change at a rapid pace. Over the past decade, 'cyber-shaming' and online harassment has taken center stage, with many seeing it as a spectator sport. Everyone has a thumbs-up or a retweet button, but we need to teach how to properly use them. Acclaimed author Sue Scheff talks about her book Shame Nation and what we as educators can do to help curtail the epidemic. You can follow Sue at @SueScheff and purchase her book on Amazon.
