This morning we continue our study verse by verse through the gospel of Matthew. How did Jesus view the Old Testament Scriptures? What was his relationship to God's Word? These few verses will be the key for understanding the rest of the Sermon on the Mount. How will we be permitted to enter the kingdom of heaven? Scripture text is Matthew 5:17-20.

This morning we continue our study verse by verse through the gospel of Matthew. Jesus has just begun the Sermon on the Mount. After beginning with a description of the [ab]Normal Christian, Jesus instructs his disciples how they should be influencing the culture and the world. Scripture text is Matthew 5:13-16.

This morning we have the privilege of welcoming Dr. Gary Hollingsworth as our guest preacher. Dr. Hollingsworth has served the past seven years as the Executive Director-Treasurer of the South Carolina Baptist Convention. He will continue to serve through the month of April as he announced his retirement last year. Dr. Hollingsworth brings a message from Romans 13:11-14 entitled, "The Awakening that Must Come."

Chapter 5 begins the Sermon on the Mount which is considered by many to be the single most comprehensive teaching of Jesus' earthly ministry. What should the normal Christian life look like? What characteristics should be found in the disciples of Jesus Christ? Matthew 5:1-12 paints a clear picture.
