Dr. P talks with Dr. Barbara L. Shaw, Board Chair of The Balm In Gilead, Inc. Board of Directors on the history and significance of The National Council of Negro Women as it relates to African Americans. Dr. Shaw is the past President and Chair of the National Council of Negro Women in Baltimore, MD. She is also the past International President of the Women’s Home and oversees the Missionary Society of the AME Zion Church.

Dr. P talks with Dr. Joyce (Joy) Balls-Berry, a Senior Associate Consultant at the Mayo Clinic Axil School of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Epidemiology. Previously, Dr. Balls-Berry was the co-lead for the Mayo Clinic Center for Clinical and Translational Science Community Engagement Program and served as the Program Manager of the Office for Community Engagement in Research.

Dr. P and Mr. Jeffrey Marlow, Accounting Director for The Balm In Gilead, Inc., have a conversation about dealing with loss during the holidays, as Jeffrey deals with the passing of his mother this year.

This week, Dr. P reflects on the joy of the holiday season and the pain many children and families experience year long, especially during Christmas.
