Colette has proposed the following draft resolution condemning the political persecution and election interference of Donald Trump:

"North Elba Republican Committee Resolution to Condemn the Indictment of Donald J. Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg:

WHEREAS the criminal justice system is based upon equal protection under the law.
WHEREAS the statute of limitations has expired on the initial charge of an accounting misdemeanor.
WHEREAS the indictment connects the accounting entry to a Federal Election Campaign felony.
WHEREAS the Department of Justice and the District Attorney’s office previously declined to prosecute this case.
WHEREAS many legal experts have stated that the case is weak and even a “first year law student” could get it dismissed.
WHEREAS District Attorney Bragg campaigned on the promise that he would prosecute Donald Trump.
WHEREAS Donald J. Trump, former President of the United States, is the leading candidate for the Republican nomination for the Presidency.
WHEREAS Donald J Trump, former President of the United States, is ahead of President Joseph R Biden, Democrat, in many if not most of the polls at this time.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
The Republican Committee of the Town of North Elba, Essex County, New York, hereby declares the prosecution and indictment of Donald J Trump to be political prosecution against a political opponent.
That the Committee declares the Manhattan District Attorney’s prosecution breaks the American tradition of not criminalizing political activity.
That the Committee declares that the indictment of a leading candidate will lead to future indictments of political opponents.
That the Committee declares that the Manhattan District Attorney’s prosecution brings shame and dishonor to the State of New York and the citizens of the State of New York."

Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin and his Commissioner for Children's Rights - Maria Lvova-Belova were indicted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes and warrants for their arrests were issued. The health and welfare of Lake Placid, North Elba, and Wilmington NY has unfortunately been compromised by the announced closing of our much-needed Adirondack Health's Lake Placid Emergency Room.  Our region literally the Winter Sports Capital of America and one of the Nation's premier destination resorts has received many hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure investments in just the last year alone, yet we can't afford an Emergency Room? This development strongly suggests political negligence in addition to Adirondack Health's likely mismanagement of its financial operations. Effective recommendations were made to reverse this dangerous development for our region, including bringing in outside revenue cycle experts and auditors to evaluate how the hospital's finances are being managed as well as to develop a plan to improve the profitability of the hospital to make our Emergency Room affordable!
