Dragon Age Lorecast

Today, the Cups discuss four very violent and aggressive creatures that are all typically found in the western deserts of Orlais, namely the Western Approach and the Hissing Wastes – the Australia of Thedas, if you will. Each and every single one of these creatures will attack you, and we're here to tell you everything we know about them.

Today, the Cups discuss an extremely weird and off-the-wall creature, ghasts, and its cousin, the velgastrial. We've only ever seen them once, and it was in a DLC. We discuss whether or not they fit into the lore, and if we'll ever see them again. We also spend the second half of the episode talking about Tallis, the first – and currently, only – female Qunari companion, also featured in the Mark of the Assassin DLC.

Today, the Cups discuss the majestic and terrifying wyvern. They talk about all we know of it in Dragon Age lore, and compare and contrast how the Dragon Age wyvern is different from other fantasy wyverns. We also spend the second half of the episode talking about Duke Prosper de Montfort, one of the main characters in Dragon Age 2's Mark of the Assassin DLC.

On this week's episode, Shelby and Austin continue the spooky vibes with two more creatures – the griffon and the scaled ones. The griffons are the majestic creatures of the Grey Wardens, but it gets a little spooky when we discuss how they went "extinct." We also talk about the Scaled Ones, which is actually another race of beings, not another animal! Listen now to find out more about the griffons and the Scaled Ones!

On this week's episode, Shelby and Austin take a journey across the Waking Sea to Kirkwall to discuss the elven-associated and spider-like creature, the Varterral. We discuss all we know about this creature, including the myth of its creation. After the break, we take a journey into Ferelden to discuss a side character that we know quite a bit about–Donal Sutherland.

Today, the Cups are joined by repeat special guest Allisondraste to discuss perhaps the most ignored character in all of Dragon Age, Oghren. Oghren is an alcoholic, somewhat of a misogynist, gross, and generally, forgettable. But how did he get this way? What part of his backstory led him to be so repugnant? We look at his whole character and answer all of these questions and more. We also attempt to make a case for Oghren's depth of character.
