Recording this episode with my dear friend, Ellen Wong, felt revolutionary in so many ways. We both experienced a 1:1 Sensual Shibari session with Jaqueline Michelle that blew us wide open in similar and different ways. For those who are unfamiliar, Shibari is the Japanese art of rope bondage.

In the first half of the episode, we discuss our upbringing as Asian women and how that shaped our relationship to sex, our bodies, and our sensuality.

Around the 37-minute mark, we dish on the actual details of the session – the good, the bad, the pain, the pleasure. It was a sacred, ceremonial, psychedelic, liberating, and profound initiation on so many levels. This short, but potent, episode feels like a confession of so much that has been buried in shame for me the past few years.

At the beginning of this year, my marriage took a turn I didn’t foresee. It’s clear now that this wasn’t the beginning of a descent, it was the end – rock bottom. The past few years have felt like traversing the underworld in my own personal descent of Inanna. (IYKYK) But what I discovered at the very bottom, after everything else was stripped away, was simply myself.

Though this is deeply personal, and I’ve struggled with if or how to share this story, it felt important to bring some aspects to light and lay this on the altar, too. Unconditional self-love is an ongoing journey that I humbly walk beside you all. I hope this supports you on your own. <3
