“The Filipino people are done waiting for the world to change. The world is now waiting for Filipinos to change it.”
Dr. Dexter Galban is a doctor, nurse, public servant, and CEO/Founder of Alaga Health, a digital health social enterprise that seeks to give every Filipino the power and the choice to access affordable and quality health care anytime, anywhere, in every way. Having lost his grandmother due the inaccessibility of home care and having seen how some patients end up waiting for 10 hours for a 10-minute consultation, Dr. Dexter was driven to co-create technology-enabled and community-driven solutions for patients and health workers in government, civil society, and the private sector. Serving as a bridge for government, NGO, and MSME health services and programs, he aims to collaborate with more advocacy partners and work with impact driven investors to make healthcare better, together.

Jayvee De Leon is the Co-founder and CEO of Forent. He grew up in the province. His father was a tricycle driver while his mother was a domestic helper in Hong Kong. They did everything they could to make sure Jayvee finished his education. He’s always been their motivation to work hard and save money so that he could give them a better life. However, in 2019 Jayvee lost all of his life savings because of a scammer. That was the lowest point of his life. He hit rock bottom. He launched Forent because he knows how tragic it is to be a victim of a scammer and he doesn’t want anyone else to ever experience that. Today, Forent is on a mission to provide a safe and reliable platform where you can confidently rent whatever you need, whenever you need it.

Lester Mendoza is a farmer, co-founder and CEO of Farm Box, a social enterprise that has the mission to create a better agri-community to uplift the lives of Filipino Farmers. Coming from a family of farmers, he knows the struggles that farmers go through just to finish one farming cycle: inability to access capital, declining productivity and low selling prices. Those were problems 10 years ago and still are the problems farmers face today. As providers of our basic needs, Lester believes that Filipino farmers deserve so much more, and with the right opportunity and community, they can improve their lives and even our country. Now, it is his mission to give them that.

Steph Naval is a mental health advocate, founder and CEO of Empath, a social enterprise that envisions accessible mental healthcare and psychoeducation. Growing up, Steph experienced severe mental health struggles, and difficulties in navigating her way through the mental healthcare system in the Philippines. Because of these personal challenges, she was ignited to pursue her mental health advocacy with Empath. The difficulties in mental healthcare accessibility are problems she no longer wants others to experience and suffer from. Thus, she began her journey in making psycheducation and mental healthcare more accessible for all.

What would it look like for Christ-following Filipinos to build tastes of Heaven on earth?
This episode features a talk given by Christeen Rico, Founder of Dream Bigger Ventures, during The Market Project’s Christmas Celebration in December 2021 in which she shares a vision for the Philippines found in Proverbs 11:10, “When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.”

Akrisah began her faith driven entrepreneurial journey in 2014 while working as a campus missionary in a Christian organization. To raise money for her students' summer camps, she produced and sold Bible and journal covers. Then, in 2015, she resigned from her job to pursue a Master of Divinity degree at a seminary and serve as the senior pastor of her local church. To financially support herself, her studies, and her ministry, she launched KREations crochet, which sold T-shirt Yarns / Retaso. Then she taught women in her Barangay how to crochet and sold the finished products to raise money for her church's summer camp. The Department of Trade and Industry of Rizal Province discovered her business. They provided Akrisah with training on how to run her enterprise, as well as access to marketing opportunities through participation in national trade fairs.
The Pandemic had a negative impact on her company and the market, but it also provided an opportunity for Akrisah to launch a new brand "AkreH." for upcycled home furnishing products. She created the UpBean Bag project and launched the project by faith without any funding. Yet God continued to open many doors for the UpBean bag project, such as TV show appearances and international grant offers. In January 2022, Kreations even opened its first upcyling hub in Rizal Province to employ more women and take on larger orders. To this day, Akrisah remains faithful in pursuing a God-given vision and mission to be a fabric upcycling hub that produces globally competitive home furnishings, bags, and accessories for a circular economy and community sustainability.
