Listen Now to Future News 5.10.2022 I must say we enjoyed perusing the New Living Expo this year, a real live conference with many friends and favorite luminaries in attendance, the first time since the pandemic. We share a few of our experiences there, including talks by Bruce Lipton, Danny Sheehan, Marianne Williamson, Laura Eisenhower, and others. A special visit to the KSCO studios today by my brother Norm, who shares info on Blue Ammonia and other renewable energy resources.  We also look at electrically modifying the genome, breakthroughs in plastic recycling, desalination, and artifical chlorophyll.  Enjoy!

Listen Now to Future News Now 5.03.2022 We were all prepared to talk about the leaked Supreme Court document on the Roe vs Wade abortion issue this week, but fate and our callers skewed the show towards Bigfoot, including some local stories regarding contact with the creature(s), and the Felton Bigfoot museum.  And little did we know that the proprietor of the museum, Michael Rugg was listening, and called in with further stories and info about our strangest of locals.  Enjoy! Michael Rugg in front of his Big Foot Museum in Felton, CA

Listen Now to Future News 4.26.2022 Will Elon make Twitter a truly free speech platform? Is this even possible to do by a private company?  What exactly do we mean by ‘free speech?’  And what about his promise to open source the algorithm, eliminate bots, deal with hate speech?  We look more closely at these issues today, with our very interactive listeners. Other news includes the issues of the Megabattery projecdt in Moss Landing, our local home for electrical power, the renewed probe budgets of NASA, and some new insights into the origins of carnivorous plants. Enjoy..

Listen Now to Future News and Commentary 4.19.200 with Substance In the first hour we look at Neptune’s cooling trend, the arrival of ‘Holodocs,’ the Twitter controversy regarding Elon Musk’s potential buyout, the rise of EVTOL’s, drones for replanting forests after wildfires, and lots of phone calls.  In the second hour we introduce Substance to you, the traveling creator of the podcast, “Lit Mystics,” and review some of the poetry and commentary at this year’s “Universe in Verse,” at UCSC, a celebration of science and nature through poetry and music, created and hosted by writer Maria Popova.  We also delve into what we might do with 43 billion dollars, the amount Elon Musk is proposing to pay for buying Twitter. What would be the ultimate social application for all of us?  Food for thought. Enjoy!

Listen Now to Future News 4.12.2022 Beyond our usual hard hitting news items of the Future, we have some rather endearing humous bits to share this week, including a medley of tunes about Covid by many musical talents scattered throughout the globe. This is truly a global experience, and we are now beginning to hear about it from our many voices. Also guaranteed to bring more than a smile to your face is our discussion of a study on monkeys who willingly eat fermented fruit for science. And most curious this week is the search for a crashed space rock, just  declassified after 8 years, that may  have orginiated from beyond our local galaxy! Enjoy.. Why do monkeys eat fermented fruit?

Listen Now to Future News 4.05.2022 We are experiencing the opening of a new renaissance, the Low Earth Orbit frontier, where thousands of satellite settlers are moving en masse. Starlink is perhaps the best known new inhabitant of this nearby space, only 150 miles away from anywhere on earth. But there are many others, including those we discuss on today’s show, such as the Axiom’s commercial launch to the space station this week. In LEO we are looking at new frontiers in brain health, cardiac stem cells, cancer and aging as well as a technology demonstration to produce optics using the surface tension of fluids in microgravity, for starters. Exciting times ahead, and very close to us all. Also this week,  Mrs. Future guides us through some of the scarey new mandate bills being promulagated through the CA legislature, Elon buys almost 10% shares of Twitter, Lithium is becoming more local and more readily available, thanks to Geothermal activity, sniffer worms detect cancer cells, DNA robots have begun their evolution, reversing hearing loss with regnerative therapy, and Frosty stops by with a report on KSCO comedy night this last weekend. Enjoy! A renaissance of activity is now happening in Low Earth Orbit

Listen Now to Future News 3.29.2022 Given we are media folks, how could we not add our 2 cents to the Will Smith/Chris Rock Oscar meltdown this week? We think you’ll appreciate our unique perspective, with our perceptive audince drawing comparisons with our story on the life/death cycle of stars.  Also of interest this week is how deep fake tech is being used to create a new form of misinformation especially created to undermine the leader of the Ukrainian war efforts. Imagine hearing Zelenskyy telling his people to put down their weapons and surrender to the Russians.  Fortunately in this case it was a bad fake of Zelenskyy, and didn’t fool anyone. Perhaps if we create deep fakes that could suggest a better path for our leaders, they might pay attention.. We also found out this week that the center sphere of our Milky Way galaxy is 2 billion years older than where we are in a remote spiral arm.  Our scientist astronomers believe that our galaxy formed from the collision of two other galaxies, one much older than the other. We are the young ones! Yay for the youth! The origins of our galaxy

Listen Now to Joeseph Jacques Joseph Jacques has been living his dream of living a life of magic and music by helping the homeless population lift themselves out of addiction and poverty. How does that work, you might ask.  By working with recording artists, both known and unfamiliar, to create CD mixes that can be sold by the homeless population to raise money. And if they are interested they can go further by working with Jacques on his Joseph Cambell/Jean Houston/Ken Wilbur inspired program of self-discovery, key to raising oneself out of despair and hopelessness. Joseph is truly an inspired individual offering a new solution to an endemic problem. Enjoy! Joseph Jacque in the KSCO studio with an appreciative Mrs. Future
