Amy Bjornson is the Clinical Educator and a senior Therapist Consultant at Sunrise Medical who are the biggest wheelchair manufacturers in the world. Amy comes from the US and has been working here for decades, her experience in wheelchairs and transport is highly regarded in the industry and her educational talks at all the events always book out and are hard to get into. Today we have another great interview, we have Amin Akbarian BACK for another interview, Amin is Australia’s representative on the International Standards committees for assistive technology products. This is a very important role because the Australian Standards are just a copy of the International ones and Amin makes sure that our voices and requirements are heard on an international level. 

 

After the last time we got Amin out, we gave an overview of all the standards and now we have got him back in to talk specifically about each standard. We will do an episode on each one in the future and hopefully, this will help you understand more about these standards as well as have this episode as a go-to resource for the future as well.

In this episode we speak with Natalie Wade. Natalie Wade is a prominent disability rights lawyer and advocate. As the Founder and Principal Lawyer of Equality Lawyers. I first met Natalie many years ago when she had a goal to drive. This was well before the NDIS days. I am keen to discuss if driving is still on the radar for her, but also how, from a legal view point, she can assist drivers with disabilities.

This is an awesome episode! This created a bunch of excitement on our social pages when we posted the videos. Today we are interviewing Thyeshya. Thy has a condition that impacts her limbs that prevents her from using the vehicle controls in their normal fashion. Thy is on the journey to gaining her license and she has gone through the first initial stages and we thought we would get her on to talk about the first stage.
