  • GLP-1s, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - 121

Neal's got a box sitting on his bathroom counter. His doctor wrote the script 3 days ago. It's still unopened.

His buddy at the gym won't stop talking about the one he's on. His wife lost thirty pounds on hers in four months. Neal's labs aren't where he wants them either. Part of him wants this box to be the answer. Part of him doesn't trust it yet.

(Have you got a script sitting unopened because you don't trust it yet? See what the real research says at www.thecalltorise.com)

If that's you too, this episode is for you.

Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound. One in eight adults in this country is currently on one of these drugs. Coach Brian breaks down the real research behind them, the actual trial data, not hype and not fear.

-The GOOD: the weight loss numbers, the heart protection benefit most people never hear about, and the kidney trial that could change how you think about your own labs.

-The BAD: the muscle loss nobody warns you about, the real cost most guys underestimate, and what happens to your body a year after you stop.

-The UGLY: the counterfeit drug problem the FDA is actively trying to shut down, the vision risk worth knowing about, and the scare that turned out to be nothing after two years of research.

Every claim in this episode is backed by a real study. Full sources and links are in the show notes so you can check the work yourself.

This is the full picture. Use it to make the call with your own doctor instead of guessing.

The Call To Rise is a 100-day fat loss challenge for driven men ready to take their body back. It combines strength training, personalized nutrition and real accountability. Most men drop 20 to 30 pounds and rebuild the confidence that comes with it.

  • How to Build and Sell a Business Without Costing You Your Health with David Barnett - 120

David C. Barnett has sold 36 businesses. He knows what makes a company sellable and what kills a deal before it closes. But the biggest lesson in this episode has nothing to do with a spreadsheet. It came from a sore spot he discovered in the shower during a family trip across Canada.

(Have you ignored a health warning sign while you were busy building something else? See what changes when you stop waiting at www.thecalltorise.com)

That discovery led to a testicular cancer diagnosis, a climb to 244 pounds, a vitamin D breakthrough, and a hard reset on how David thinks about risk in business and in his body. Coach Brian sits down with David to connect two worlds that rarely get discussed in the same room: exit planning and personal health.

    In this conversation, you'll learn:

    - Why 80% of small businesses never successfully transfer to a new owner

    - The two questions every buyer asks before writing a check

    - Why waiting until you want to sell is already too late and what to do 10 to 15 years out

    - How David dropped from 244 pounds to 171 pounds after his cancer diagnosis

    - The morning walk habit he has maintained since 2022 and why it started because of jet lag

    - Why a real exit plan protects your health as much as your money

    - How your body is the most important asset you will ever own and why it needs the same preparation as your business

  • 25 Questions I Got Asked To Help Men Over 40 Lose Fat Part 2 - 119

An A1C above 6.2 makes you diabetic, by definition. Plenty of men running six and seven figure businesses cross that line years before a doctor ever says the word out loud. This episode is for that man, the business owner who builds his whole calendar around everyone else and never blocks time for his own health. This is men's health built for men who run things and rarely slow down.

(Doctor flag something on your last blood panel? See how men are moving those numbers in the right direction at www.thecalltorise.com)

Coach Brian answers fifteen real questions from men over 40 about fat loss, blood work, and energy. He breaks down what to do when your A1C creeps up and what drives high blood pressure underneath the surface. The episode also gets into what happens in your body after a GLP-1, and why a single work trip can add five pounds you never planned for. Stress, sleep, and nutrition all show up here too. All three drive the energy and focus you bring to your business every day, and that energy turns directly into productivity at work and patience at home.

Your business and your health run on the same fuel. The discipline that built your company can rebuild your body too. Whether you run a local company or an online business, the energy you have at 6pm decides how you show up for your family and how you perform at work the next day. Good fitness and good nutrition fold directly into your business performance, your stress management, and your work-life balance. This episode gives you a clear path to better energy, better focus, and a body that matches everything else you have built.

    Main Topics in This Episode

    - A1C creeping up and what to fix first

    - Coming off a GLP-1 without regaining the weight

    - Reading a bad cholesterol panel without panic

    - Staying on track while traveling for work

    - Fat loss on five or six hours of sleep

    - Getting in shape after 48

    - Building strength and capability for your 60s and 70s

    - Breaking the cycle of losing the same 20 pounds

The Call To Rise is a 100-day fat loss challenge for driven men ready to take their body back. It combines strength training, personalized nutrition and real accountability. Most men drop 20 to 30 pounds and rebuild the confidence that comes with it.

  • 25 Questions I Got Asked To Help Men Over 40 Lose Fat Part 1 - 118

Most men I coach are eating half the protein they actually need, then wondering why they're starving by ten at night. If you're a business owner, entrepreneur, or driven man running your day on coffee and grit, this episode is built around the questions you've probably asked yourself but never had answered straight.

(Tired of guessing what to eat? Learn the way that finally makes sense at www.thecalltorise.com)

In this episode of Driven For Health, Coach Brian Parana works through ten of the most common questions he gets on fat loss, nutrition, and fitness from men in their 40s and 50s. These are real questions from coaching calls and client conversations, the kind that come up when a man's body stops responding the way it used to.

Men's health after 40 doesn't follow the rules that worked at 30. This episode covers how much protein actually supports fat loss, why diets that worked a decade ago stop working now, and how to handle work travel and client dinners without losing a week of progress every time you're on the road.

If you're running a business, including an online business, your schedule probably doesn't leave room for hours in the gym or a meal plan that needs a spreadsheet. The fitness and nutrition habits covered here are built for busy men, the kind that protect your energy, your focus, and your performance at work without taking over your day. Productivity and physical performance run on the same fuel, even though most men treat them as separate problems.

Brian also breaks down strength training after 40, muscle loss, and why the same effort stops producing the same results. Work-life balance only holds up when you have the energy to use it, and that starts with what's on your plate and how you train.

This is part one of a two part series. Part two, episode 119, covers blood work, chronic illness, stress management, travel, and staying strong as you age.

    Topics covered in this episode:

    - The real protein number most men get wrong

    - Why keto or fasting works at first and stops working later

    - How to handle business dinners and travel without losing progress

    - Why a plate that looks healthy can still stall fat loss

    - The truth about pizza night and flexible eating

    - The minimum amount of training that actually produces results

    - Why the scale can stay the same while your body changes

    - Muscle loss after 40 and what it does to your metabolism

    - Why training in your 40s and 50s requires a different approach

    - How walking affects blood sugar, energy, and fat loss

The Call To Rise is a 100-day fat loss challenge for driven men ready to take their body back. It combines strength training, personalized nutrition and real accountability. Most men drop 20 to 30 pounds and rebuild the confidence that comes with it.

This program also works if you are dealing with high blood pressure, high cholesterol or Type 2 diabetes. It was built for those men too. Many men see those numbers move in the right direction alongside their weight loss.

  • Busy Tech Exec Loses 20 lbs in 100-Day Fat Loss Challenge! Here's How He Did It - 117

Chris is a tech executive with three kids, aging parents who need him, and a job that keeps him on planes more weeks than not. He recently finished The Call To Rise 100-Day Fat Loss Challenges and lost twenty pounds without giving up wine at dinner or skipping pizza night with his family.

(Do you think travel and family dinners mean fat loss is off the table? See what changed for Chris at www.thecalltorise.com)

Chris explains how he protected his energy during travel, client dinners, and a packed schedule, and what it took to build real energy instead of running on caffeine and stress alone. He also shares the moment his doctor told him he was close to needing blood pressure medication, and why that conversation changed how seriously he took his own health.

Brian and Chris talk through nutrition strategy for men who travel for work, how stress management and decision fatigue wreck a man's focus, and why chasing a perfect plan usually backfires.

They also get into how better energy and fewer bad food decisions carried into his business performance, not only the number on the scale.

Main topics covered in this episode:

    - How Chris lost 20 pounds in 100 days while traveling constantly for work

    - Handling client dinners, alcohol, and travel days without losing progress

    - The blood pressure warning from his doctor that changed his approach to health

  • Why Buying A Business Can Be The Best Thing For Your Health: Tim T. Delaney - 116

Tim T. Delaney bought a small local business and thought that would fix everything. His weight stayed stuck near 220 pounds anyway, no matter how much cardio he did.

(Do you think hitting the next goal would finally make you feel fixed? See what actually changes it at www.thecalltorise.com)

In this episode of Driven For Health, Coach Brian Parana sits down with Tim T. Delaney to talk about the connection between business ownership, time freedom, health, weight loss, family, and long-term quality of life.

Tim shares how buying a small local business changed the direction of his life. He also opens up about his own health, including being around 220 pounds, exercising consistently but still struggling with weight, leaning too much on cardio, and eventually learning the importance of strength training, food tracking, muscle, movement, and accountability.

Brian and Tim talk about why owning or buying a business can create more control over your schedule, how that control can support better health decisions, and why financial freedom means a lot more when you have the energy, strength, and confidence to enjoy it.

Tim also explains his “buy box” concept and how building your ideal life should include your health, your family, your daily schedule, and the kind of future you actually want to live.

Tim T. Delaney is an entrepreneur, real estate investor, and the host of Business Buying for Financial Independence. More than a decade ago, he made a bold move, buying a small local business with almost no experience and very little cash down. That set him on a path to financial freedom. Now he helps others do the same through business acquisition.

  • At 59, He Dropped 12% Body Fat, 17 lbs and 2 Inches Off His Waist in 100 days - 113

At 59, Mike was still working out. His waistline kept moving the wrong direction. His nutrition was inconsistent and the results never seemed to last. Then life hit a major turning point.

(Have you lost weight before only to gain it back? See what makes this round different at www.thecalltorise.com)

Mike had recently lost his mother after years of dementia related decline. He started a new job. His daughter's wedding was coming up and he wanted to walk her down the aisle feeling better in his own body.

So he joined The Call To Rise 100 Day Men's Fat Loss Challenge. In this episode of Driven For Health, Coach Brian Parana sits down with Mike to talk through what changed.

Over the course of the program Mike lost about 15 to 17 pounds. He dropped close to 12 percent body fat and took roughly 2 inches off his waist. He did it while still eating out, traveling and going to social events.

The biggest change was the way he approached food. Mike focused on portion control, protein, vegetables, water, fewer drinks and better restaurant choices. He did not need an extreme diet. He needed a plan he could repeat.

Mike also talks about the value of being in a men's group during a season when family, work and grief were all happening at once. That accountability helped him stay consistent when it would have been easy to put his health on the back burner.

By the end of this episode you will know how Mike lost the weight without giving up his normal life, and what changed in the way he eats for good.

    Main Topics

    - Losing weight after 59 without an extreme diet

    - Staying consistent while eating out and traveling

    - What changed after losing a parent to dementia

    - Building a nutrition plan you can actually repeat

    - Why a men's group matters during a hard season
