-So, this being the first DTB of 2016, I just wanted to wish all you folk a very Happy New Year.
-Plenty of random/ slippery selecions comin’ your way over the next few months-
I also got a couple a great themes in the bag- An of course we’ll have the odd guest mix comin’ at ya……… but for now, it’s bac to this weeks DTB…..
This week we have a very special mix & a first here at DTB. A JOINT guest mix-by John & Julia T. ‘English As Tuppence’
-I first met John when we both worked at a small record store in Wickford, Essex in the late 70’s. Thru the early 80’s we were all regulars down at Crocs in Rayleigh.
John went on to work at Rough Trade & Southern records. He was also one of the early participants of the original monthly ‘Drop the Biscuit’ sessions at my flat in West London. Sit back, relax, enjoy…..

Been thinking about this as a theme for a while now, but proved to be a bit challenging as I was struggling to find stuff I liked with girls that exemplified a real ‘Punk Rock’ attitude. I know that I will get bombarded with, “why didn’t you use……….?” Well, go on then. We have used the only 2 Slits songs I like in previous shows and is Patti Smith Punk? Hhmmmm!
So, what’s here is not strictly punk or all girls for that matter. What drew me to these tunes was attitude, buzzsaw guitars and girls doing it for themselves, no compromise.

A sad week this week, the passing of one of the most influential British artists of our time- -DAVID BOWIE- already there’s been lots of tributes- people choosin their favourite Bowie tunes etc…..so we thought we’d just play some of Bowie’s favourite’s from around 64-67.
You may recognise it as Pin-Ups?
We’ve left it in the same runnin’ order as Bowie decided on at the time (I wonder if he ever compiled it in this way first (possibly on cassette!?!) before finally goin’ into the studio himself?) Anyway it make’s a brilliant album, so enjoy.
