  • Soundtracks 8

This week we present Soundtracks 8, where we focus our attention

on little known Italian composer and musician Giuliano Sorgini

    (also known as Raskovich).

Sorgini started writing music for TV, films/documentaries/library etc…

in the mid/late 1960’s, before moving into movies in the 1970’s-

Such as Under Pompelmo, Occulto, Africa Oscura, and The Living Dead At Manchester Morgue.

Here we have a rather smashin’ selection from his moody/suspense/zombie type gear, to his psyche, funky, trip-hop, experimental sounds, including a couple of remixes, that should keep you entertained for the coming’ week.

(A lot of his stuff is being re-released now with some killer 7” doing the rounds. If you come across em’ snap em up!)

  • ROUGH TRADE

This week features a small selection of the many releases on the Rough Trade label.

Possibly the most important independent U.K record label of them all?

The Rough Trade shop opened off Portobello, Notting Hill in 1976,

a distribution network quickly fell into place, though it wasn’t until a couple of years

later, in 1978 that the record label was born. Featuring a wide & eclectic range of artists

from punk/post punk to electronic, avant-garde , poetry and reggae.

Our choice of tracks this week don’t necessarily follow the obvious, the chart crossovers or household names, but rather as is often the case, our favourites, tunes from our collections

or just interesting bits n bobs we picked up along the way.

  • 80’s (Bradleys)

BRADLEYS was a small Spanish bar tucked  away

around the back of Tottenham Court Road tube station,

in Hanway Street. Back in the 80’s & 90’s we used to go down

there a lot, especially before a night out at a club across the road in Soho.

In those days it wasn’t so easy to find decent music in pub’s an bars.

The overall quality of the jukebox in Bradleys, which they rotated

every so often, was a lot better than most places.

    with a selection of decent tunes from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s & 80’s.

It was small, squashed & a bit tatty round’ the edges, but we loved it.

We always preferred downstairs,  & if you got there early enough

in the evening you might even get a seat.

So here’s a snapshot or a little reminder of what it would’ve been like back in the day.

    (Actually I re-visited recently & it’s still there, it’s still open & it hasn’t changed

    that much either).
