His passion is golf and its also his business. I am so excited to present this Episode of SwATCast we welcome special guest Dr. Kyle Parish to talk about all things concussions. We talk about Red Flag symptoms as well as common signs and symptoms to look for. We also talk about how we manage concussions as well as what to expect in a return to play protocol. We debunk some common myths concerning concussions as well as some some misconceptions with special equipment. Dr Parish also gives great insight to the future of what concussion diagnostic tools may look like.

Claire Johnson has always been a skilled basketball player. But she started varsity in 8th grade she was barely 5' tall and less than 100 lbs. She was knocked around on the court by older, more physical players and had to learn to play in that style. 2 years later she has grown 9-10 inches or more and she used all the tools she learned when she was smaller to physically overwhelm guards her last 3 years of high school. She was not heavily recruited out of high school, but found a great fit at Samford University where she got immediate playing time. Although there was a learning curve, she adapted well having a strong freshman season earning second team all conference. After a coaching change, she made the very difficult decision to enter the transfer portal and weigh her options, and the offers came rolling in from all over the country! She ultimately committed to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and will continue her athletic career there. SHe is now giving back to the community by hosting her own signature basketball camp this July 10-11 for young girls! There is not a more polished, well rounded young person to be a role model for these kids!

Part 2 shows the full circle journey of how Addison found joy in the game again and opened up about her struggles with mental health, but more importantly, her support and her victories. How goals and dreams can change, but it just makes achievements that much more satisfying. We all have something to learn from this family, and I am honored to share this story.

Physical Therapy after a major injury can definitely be challenging, but that is only part of the battle. In this episode, I speak with a remarkable young woman (Addison Widelski) that torn her ACL not once, but TWICE and missed her sophomore and junior seasons of high school basketball. She and her mother (Kacie Gill) tell their story about how the injuries change lives and how they dealt with the emotional and mental struggles that came with the physical problems. But, this is not just a story about struggle, it is a tale of adapting and overcoming to chase dreams and the best part is that she is still writing her story at the next level!

Today we interview Skylar Waller, the 2025 Joey Fosko MVP of the first region tournament! She battled 3 major injuries to lead her team to state. She missed her sophomore season after her second shoulder surgery within a year, then played through a torn ACL her Junior year. She had her ACL repair with stem cells and returned to play her senior season after losing her father to a battle with cancer. Skylar Waller, the definition of overcoming obstacles and defying odds to succeed.
