Can recreational drug use be compatible with personal and professional achievement and a healthy, safe lifestyle? In his new book, Drug Use for Grown-Ups, psychology professor Carl Hart says yes.

Dr. Hart recently “came out of the closet” as a recreational drug user himself and encourages other Americans to do so in an act of civil disobedience to protest unjust laws that criminalize drug use and disproportionately punish communities of color.

Today, we spend the hour with him to learn about why and how he’s “flipping the script” on drugs.

Carl Hart is the Ziff Professor of Psychology at Columbia University.
