  • The Preacher’s Kid Who Walked Away and Came Back
Joshua Emmanuel grew up the son of a Presbyterian minister and memorized the Westminster Confession by age 8. By 13 he was using drugs and making a point of being the atheist in his Christian school's Bible class. At 17, God brought him back. Today Joshua runs the Jungle Ministry in Jos, Nigeria, working with the men most churches there have written off: addicts, hustlers, and traffickers living in the slums. He tells Kevin Swanson what brought him back to the faith, what his father did right, and why he spends his time on a few men instead of crusades and altar calls. Kevin asks the question behind it all: how do kids raised in Christian homes catch a real Kingdom vision instead of walking away? #ChristianParenting #Discipleship #Missions #GenerationsRadio #KevinSwanson #JoshuaEmmanuel

All of this is in the context of the temporal world being one of utopian pleasure for all of us to enjoy. Where does it end? Do we really have the answers to reprove these ideas? The Stone that the builders rejected becomes the Chief Corner Stone. For that we take solace.

  • I Timothy 5:22-25 - Should Christians Drink Alcohol?
The sermon examines the instruction in 1 Timothy 5 to avoid hasty ordination, emphasizing that time is the ultimate revealer of a person's true character and integrity. It argues that churches must prioritize godly character over natural ability when selecting elders to maintain the purity of the ministry and avoid sharing in the sins of unqualified leaders. The message further explores the biblical perspective on alcohol, distinguishing between its medicinal and social uses and the clear prohibition against drunkenness. While acknowledging the freedom of Christians to make personal choices regarding social drinking, the speaker offers a pastoral recommendation for abstinence based on the practical wisdom of avoiding an expensive, addictive neurotoxin. The central call is for believers to walk with a clear conscience, relying on the Holy Spirit rather than substances for peace and joy.

  • Why not Jesus.
People search all over for things that will fulfill them. If I can just get this job, that promotion, this degree, that item, this house, that boy, that girl, or this amount in the bank account, then I'll be fulfilled. Some turn to drugs and alcohol, others turn to culture, others to religion, and some to other things all while seeking purpose and fulfillment. The reality of it is, nothing has ever brought fulfillment. No matter what you are doing to try and fill that void in your life or reach a place of satisfaction, the truth is, you'll never reach it. The world is searching for the answer to life, the answer to fulfillment, and the answer to happiness. They have tried it all. Without success. My question is this. Why not Jesus. If you have tried it all and it all failed, what do you have to lose? Why not try the one who can actually bring you to a place of satisfaction? A place of fulfillment? And a place of purpose? If everything you have done has not worked, why not Jesus?

  • The Dangers of Drinking
This sermon examines the biblical warnings against alcohol and substance abuse, arguing that modern Christian culture often normalizes social drinking despite clear scriptural prohibitions. Drawing primarily from Proverbs 23, the message outlines the emotional agony, social degradation, physical harm, and moral perversity caused by impaired judgment. The speaker emphasizes the addictive nature of substances, comparing them to a serpent that bites and an adder that stings, while citing Isaiah 28 to show that even religious leaders have historically erred through intoxication. The tone is convicting and urgent, urging believers to reject the 'liberty' of sin and instead pursue sobriety and spiritual vigilance. The sermon concludes with a call to avoid the initial temptation entirely, relying on the Holy Spirit rather than worldly pleasures to maintain clear-mindedness and moral integrity.
