Thanks for checking out episode 51 with Phil Woods. Phil is an experienced professional in the musical instruments industry and currently works as artist relations for Remo Drumheads and Stagg cymbals in the UK for the largest independent music distributor, EMD Music.
In this episode, we chat about Phil's history in the industry leading towards his current role today which includes talking to endorsed artists, customer services and sales for multiple musical instrument brands. We also touched on what it's like to organise a stand at the UK Drum Show and Phil's love of the band Rush.
Phil, is a lovely, bubbly guy with a great attitude and personality and is definitely one of the best people I've dealt with in the industry. He clearly loves music and still performs himself as a guitarist and vocalist.

Thanks for checking out episode 50 with former Slipknot percussionist, Chris Fehn, #3. Please share this with any fans of Slipknot. I am truly honoured to have had this opportunity because this is Chris' very first interview since his departure from the band in 2019. He has been a part of the metal industry for over two decades and has contributed significantly to the success and evolution of Slipknot with his incredible live performances and distinctive Pinoccio inspired mask.
In this episode, we chat about his time before Slipknot and some of his career highlights, playing drums on 'These Old Boots' also featuring Mick Mars and Dee Snider, taken from my dad Phil Campbell's solo album 'Old Lions Still Roar', being blown away by Joey Jordison's drumming, playing bass guitar in the band Will Haven plus his future music plans.

Thanks for checking out episode 47 with Steve Vai & Sebastian Bach drummer, Jeremy Colson.
In this episode, Jeremy has some fascinating insights on being a session musician and how playing for the song in an instrumental band is different
to a much more common rock band situation containing vocals.
He also talks about some of the techniques he's implied over the years which include using a double butt ended stick for his snare hand to achieve a fatter, more consistent rim shot and despite playing in some irregular time signatures with Steve Vai, he always tries to make it sound as straight as possible.

Thanks for checking out episode 44 with Martin Potts who works for the distributor KORG UK in a role as UK Artist Relations for Paiste, Vic Firth & Mapex drums but also has control of the marketing for Mapex in the UK.
In this episode, Martin and I chat about his history of playing drums which included him reaching grade 8 at a young age, but sadly due to problems with arthritis couldn't persue much in his playing career. So we naturally discussed his journey of working within the musical instruments industry and how he started working in a drum shop and has worked his way up in the world of musical instrument distribution within multiple companies to where he is today and how the industry has changed over the years.
We also discussed some interesting topics such as artist endorsements and what Artist Relations at drum companies look for in new artists and how artists should initially approach them with regards to applications etc. Martin also talked about how he organises the marketing side of things for Mapex including social media content and how difficult it can be to get it right. Overall, a really interesting conversation from another side of the drum world that doesn't often get covered on this show.

Thanks for checking out episode 42 of Drum For The Song podcast featuring the insanely talented Anika Nilles who has taken the drum community by storm over the past decade after being 'discovered' on YouTube, within a few years being the cover artist for Modern Drummer Magazine and most recently touring as the drummer for none other than the guitar legend himself, Jeff Beck!
In this episode, Anika and I have a great chat about her history with the drums and how she was encouraged to play by her parents at 6 years old and how she got the recent gig with Jeff Beck and what it was like touring with him and Johnny Depp across the UK and Europe and how she had to play most of the tour with an injured right foot which led to her having to learn the set by using just her left foot for the bass drum. She also has some great advice for drummers who would like to get more comfortable with odd time signatures and reveals some of her favourite musicians and inspirations.
