If God were really for me...why would this be happening?

Do you ever ask that? Where is His fatherly care in this loss/sickness/depression/pain? Imagine being a Christian in Ukraine now...

These feelings don’t take God by surprise. He’s given us words to say.

Psalm 22 speaks of intense agony, in some ways give us permission and words to use to tell God how we’re feeling.  When we’re in pain and distress, when we feel agony and even doubt, when the pain is too raw to even tell anyone, we can tell God.  The podcast helps us reflect on Psalm 22:

On the evening of 19 February 2018, armed militants from Boko Haram raided Leah’s school, the Government Girls Science and Technical College, loaded the girls into a waiting truck and drove them away to the Lake Chad region in the far northeast. Leah is still held in captivity. More recently 150 Christians have been abducted and 80 have been killed in Kaduna State Nigeria.

Give thanks for someone who has mothered you! You're very welcome to join us this Sunday to celebrate those who have been mothers to us and to pray for those for whom it's a hard day. We'll be looking at God's Word of comfort in Isaiah 40 and His wonderful promise to His people.

Last Sunday Maia Mikhaluk posted on Facebook "Our church in Kyiv met today for a Sunday worship service in person. Only those who live within walking distance could come and during the service three times there were warnings about air raids, but nobody hurried to shelter. We felt the safest together, praying to God and praising Him." Can you imagine an air raid siren going off during the church service? This Sunday we're going to see what the suffering church most needs as we look at John's vision of the glorious risen Almighty Jesus. Volodymyr lives in Western Ukraine, his eldest son has sever health problems requiring 24/7 care. On the day of the invasion he had a seizure. Volodymyr pastors a church and helps to run a ministry for disabled children.

Vitali helps to run a Bible College in Kiev, his wife and children have had to flee to Romania while he remains in Kiev, he expects he will have to join the military resistance. Is God still God? Does He still loved His people?

Maybe you have questions like that? After 2 years of Covid, now war and increasing prices, is God still God? This Sunday we are starting to look at the book of Revelation, a book that assures us that God is still God, still loves His people and will ultimately triumph. In the light of the shock and pain of Russia invading Ukraine, where can we find hope? This Sunday we'll be praying for Ukraine and we'll be looking at Hebrews 11, a chapter full of encouragement from people who trusted their future into God's hands. Nick will be leading the services and Tom will be preaching.
