an author with a true knowledge of the old West

Kirby Jonas proves once again that he is a very talented and knowledgeable author. When you read one of his books, you feel like you are a part of it, like you can smell the pine and sage, feel the dust. His characters feel like real people and he has the ability to make you feel love or hate for them. You can tell a lot of research has went into his work. I would definitely recommend his books to anyone who loves the old West as much as I do... And as much as Mr. Jonas seems to do. Once I start a book by him, I don't want to put it down. This book, like all of his books, stayed true to the time period. Great book, if I could give it more than five stars I would.

Enjoyed this story very much!

Mr. Jonas has once again managed to entertain me, and captivate my attention with his wonderful characters and writing style. This is story of a man who has known death on an intimate level since he was barely a teenager, and therefore sees himself as unlovable. But, as Matthew eventually learns, love shall not be denied, and men who always do the right thing are indeed very lovable!

I truly enjoy Mr. Jonas' style, this is my 3rd book of his that I've read in 2 weeks... and I'm off to decide on the next one. You will not be disappointed in any of his books, I haven't been.

What an incredible book!

Kirby you have out done yourself once again!

20 years ago I read nearly every night. Since then I have been hit or miss...that is until I started reading books authored by Kirby Jonas. I have to be a bit cautious as to when I choose to start a new book. It results in very little else being accomplished in my life, because I can't put the book down. Mr. Jonas is a great author who has a unique ability to include many situations and details that set up coming together for a great ending. Take the time to read this book, you will not be disappointed!
