Earthquake has been around for quite some time now yet always kept a low profile and stayed very underground. Only known to the few who've come across them.

Originally Earthquake was made out of a duo consisting of TNT Roots and Winston Dread.

It was way back in the eighties that their musical journey began in Northampton where they also made the first vocal recording of a young Tena Stelin (Winston Dread).

Through the ninties they released a number of really experimental dub albums which sounded more hardcore and rather unconventional for the common dub market.

Nevertheless they were exposed to the roots and dub masses by sound systems like Aba Shanti,

Iration Steppaz and others.

In the late ninties the duo parted but TNT Roots kept producing material under the name Earthquake. In 2004 TNT Roots and Tena Stelin released, what is to my knowledge the first vocal album featuring

Earthquake rhythms, "Cosmic Intervention" which evidently reached a new crowd of people and not only the more hardcore dubheads because of Tena Stelin's contributory. Last year we also saw the release of TNT Roots in the guise of Yahweh Warriors with the album "Yahweh Warriors in Dubwise". Winston Dread and TNT Roots are set to release their first joint Earthquake Studio album in 10 years! Watch this space..

One of Jamaica's most beloved vocalists who was as pertinent in dancehalls as he was in bedrooms, Gregory Isaacs' career stretched over 30 years. From the heady days of reggae through lovers rock, a genre he virtually invented, his talent reached into the modern age. Born in the Fletcher's Land area of Kingston, Jamaica, on July 15, 1951, Isaacs arrived in the music business via the talent show circuit, a tried and true formula for many of the island's budding singing stars. The singer began the new millennium with aplomb on Father and Son, which, true to the title, features Isaacs and his son Kevin. The duets are gorgeous, while the younger Isaacs is given plenty of room to prove that his talent is equal to his dad's. The next year, I Found Love marked the second time the two worked together. Gregory Isaacs died at his home in London on October 25, 2010 at the age of 59.
