What happens when your entire life changes in a matter of seconds?
In this episode of Dubai Stars Podcast, Anthony Joseph AJ sits down with Yannick Rebsamen, whose story is one of survival, mindset, reinvention, and refusing to let circumstances decide what happens next.
On December 24, 2018, Yannick’s life changed forever. A young footballer in Switzerland, he was involved in a devastating train accident in Zurich that resulted in the loss of both of his legs. Doctors later told him he had been clinically dead for approximately 20 minutes. Instead of seeing the accident as the end of his life, Yannick describes it as his rebirth and his second birthday.
What followed was an extraordinary mental and personal transformation.
Within days of the accident, Yannick began asking a different question: not Why did this happen to me? but What can I do now?
He started rebuilding his independence one small challenge at a time, working on his mindset, meditating, studying himself, and learning to focus on what he could still control. Today, he says the accident became one of the best things that ever happened to him because it gave him a second chance at life.
But his story didn’t stop with recovery.
While still recovering, Yannick saw an opportunity to build a different future. Just one week after the accident, while still heavily medicated, he purchased an e-commerce course and began learning online business. His first online sale was only around $8, but it proved something to him: it worked.
Within his first six months, he says he generated around $100,000 and eventually left his job at Mercedes. Over the following years, he immersed himself in e-commerce, affiliate marketing, copywriting, human behavior and marketing, experiencing major wins alongside losses, blocked bank accounts and lawsuits. Yanic says that across roughly eight years, he generated around $30 million through his business journey and now operates a payment provider in Brazil.
This conversation goes much deeper than money.
Anthony and Yannick discuss why understanding human behavior can be more valuable than chasing individual business tactics, why Yannick refuses to become another e-commerce course seller, how controlling your thoughts can change the direction of your life, and why failure and loss became some of his greatest teachers.
They also discuss Yannick’s decision to make Dubai his main base, what attracted him to the city from a young age, the ambition and international environment he finds here, and why being surrounded by people achieving at a high level continues to motivate him.
Toward the end of the conversation, Yannick opens up about something even more personal: happiness.
For him, happiness is no longer about temporary pleasure, money or constantly chasing the next thing. It comes from being proud of himself, making progress, helping other people and knowing his experience can prove that circumstances do not have to define what someone becomes.
Yannick is now preparing to share more of his story publicly through speaking and his own framework around mind awareness, with one central message:
Everything is possible when you learn to control your mind.
If this episode gives you a different perspective on adversity, mindset or what is possible after life knocks you down, share it with someone who needs to hear Yannick’s story.
